JamUp Plug HD

Positive Grid announces the availability of JamUp Plug HD, their next generation iOS audio interface for guitar.

Instead of using the audio input, this new model connects via USB with a digital audio resolution of 24-bit/48kHz.

The upgraded audio resolution provides improved signal-to-noise ratio (98 dB RMS), helps in eliminating feedback issues and allows your guitar to better utilize the various digital audio apps available.

The hardware comes with the typical input output features found on audio interfaces – a 1/4 inch input jack for connecting your guitar and a 1/8-inch output jack for connecting to headphones or powered speakers.

Positive Grid added a three-color LED display for monitoring the input level – green stands for connected, orange means that the signal is optimized for your instrument and red cautions of a high input level. You can adjust the input level accordingly via the input control on the hardware itself. This input level control makes the new JamUp Plug compatible with both passive and active pickups, whether electric guitars or bass guitars.

Positive Grid Product Manager Calvin Abel commented: “Mobile guitar players are becoming more and more sophisticated every day. What started out as amp/effects emulator apps—mainly used to practice at home—have now evolved into a whole new generation of professional tools for working musicians on the go. For guitarists that are particular about their sound, tone and expression, our new JamUp Plug HD ensures that signals are converted with the utmost depth and dynamics as well as least noise.”

As expected, this audio interface is designed to work well with Positive Grid’s own iOS guitar apps that include JamUp and JamUp Pro XT. However it will also work with other popular amp modelers, effects and recording apps that include AmpliTube, Garageband, AmpKit, Auria, Cubasis, Loopy, Audiobus and more.

The new JamUp Plug HD docks directly to the 30-pin connector of familiar iOS devices like the iPod Touch 4, iPhone 4/4s and the iPad 2/3. You will need Apple’s 30-pin to Lightning adapter in case you have the latest iPhone or iPad.

JamUp Plug HD is currently retailing for $79.99. You can find out more about it by visiting Positive Grid.
