Orange OBC210 Mini Bass Cab

Orange introduces OBC210 Mini Bass Cab, designed to provide punch and power while sporting a smaller footprint.

This is considered as the company's smallest "conventional" cabinet, featuring the same non-isobaric design but slightly slimmed down to save space and reduce weight.

The new OBC210 Mini is part of the OBC Series, which is currently being used by big name artists like Geddy Lee, Glenn Hughes, John McVie and many more. It offers a lighter yet still powerful option for bassists who do not have enough man power to lug around bigger cabinets.

The company describes this 2x10 cab as having maximum punch from the smallest available space, allowing for improved portability without compromising the cabinet's power. To achieve this, they adjusted the design of their birch plywood cabinet until they find the right balance of resonance and size.

They ended up utilizing thinner (15mm) birch plywood and strengthening the structure, resulting in a big weight difference while still retaining the stage presence that gigging bassists look for. Expanding the resonance of the OBC210 are Orange signature skid runners, which acoustically bond the cabinet to the stage for even more low-end thump.

Housed within the lighter cabinet structure is a pair of 10" Eminence Legend speakers, as seen and tested on other OBC cabinets from Orange. These 200W drivers are said to fit the new design nicely, the company says, "They deliver a rich low end with great mid-range clarity making sure the OBC210 Mini bears all the sonic hallmarks of a classic 2x10” cabinet."

Allowing for advanced daisy chaining, the OBC210 comes with two Speakon connectors. You can use them to pair the cab with another cabinet that has the same impedance, giving you a total load of 4 Ohms. And since it can sit comfortably on top of other OBC cabinets, you can easily join them together to create stacks that push more volume should you need it.

Here are the specifications:

  • Impedance: 8 Ohms
  • Power Handling: 400 watts
  • Finish: Orange or Black Tolex
  • Dimensions: 24.4" x 9.8" x 13.4"
  • Weight: 19.25kg (42.43lb)

While the footprint of this cab is smaller, it does retain the same characteristic tone of classic 2x10 cabinets. Producing the same detailed mid ranges, smooth highs and high low-end clout. Orange predicts that many will be surprised by its warmth and sharp bass response.

The new Orange OBC210 Mini is available now, retailing for £529.00. Visit Orange Amps for more information.
