PedalSnake Vari-Chain System

PedalSnake unveils the Vari-Chain System, a customizable cable kit for conveniently powering up your guitar pedals.

PedalSnake Vari-Chain Pedal PowerSystem

This new cable chaining system is complimentary to PedalSnake’s 9VDC SnakePower supply.

Vari-Chain is designed to provide a simple and convenient way of powering up multiple pedals. This system provides guitarists with a power cable chain that is easily configurable to match any combination of pedals.

An important issue solved by Vari-Chain’s design is the ability to configure the chain to the right length without having to manually solder and piece together cables. It offers three cables, 2x, 3x, and 5x which can be plugged together in any combination to power your pedals. These cables allow for configuring the chain at various lengths depending on your need. This reduces the cables used, which gives you more space and less clutter.

Vari-Chain also features “Right-Angle Plugs”, which have been popularly used on audio/instrument jacks. These angled plugs also save valuable pedalboard real state.

Jody Page, PedalSnake president, discussed the added value of Vari-chain’s right-angle plugs: “Players like saving space with right angle plugs, and Vari-Chain removes the sharp corner that results when one mates to a right angle plug. We do this by making the last plug on each Vari-Chain cable straight, so adding to chains becomes seamless. Once Vari-Chain reaches the desired length, the last straight plug is capped off with PedalSnake’s 21RAA, the world’s first (and only) power plug adapter that converts a straight power plug to right angle. This little guy is valuable whether one uses Vari-Chain or not”.

Working in conjunction with the 9VDC SnakePower Supply, Vari-Chain offers a power cable configuration that is efficient and quiet. Jody Page elaborates: “Few players realize, that standard wall warts, when used properly, have always been the best solution, because they are both super-quiet and affordable. Being true, ground-isolated Class 2 Transformers, they can be a bit bulkier, but this is a small price to pay for quiet ground-isolation”.

However transformer-based supplies are typically rated 200mA or less, and are limited for powering only 4-6 ‘9V battery type’ pedals. Page says that “SnakePOWER beefs this up to 500mA, powering a dozen or more, and Vari-Chain becomes a very nice companion. This combination also leverages our Power Plug Adapters, which are the best around for adding pedals with bastard power connectors to power chains”.

The MSRP for the Vari-Chain system starts at $13. For more information, you can head over to PedalSnake.
