Indie rock-loving amateur guitarists, this could be your big break. When lo-fi legends Pavement perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in a few weeks, you could be joining them. The band and talk show are holding a contest, and the winner will get to play guitar with Pavement on September 23.
Interested applicants need to submit a video of themselves playing a Pavement song by Wednesday, September 8. Online voting then will take place from September 13-17 and the winner will be announced on September 20. Contestants can find information about the contest, including where to send their videos and a list of approved Pavement audition songs at www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com.
The indie rock heroes, who reunited after an 11-year break, have been playing shows and festival sets all summer. Following a run of September gigs, they’ll help celebrate Matador Records’ 21st anniversary at the Palms in Las Vegas. Matador at Twenty-One also will feature performances from Sonic Youth, a reunited Guided By Voices, Belle & Sebastian, Spoon and more during the weekend of October 1-3.
