This distortion pedal was announced last year, and began shipping on June 8, 2012.

It is based on the distortion that was used on the 180W MI Amplification Megalith Beta Amplifier. All the nuances and details of the amp were replicated into the Megalith Delta pedal.

The Megalith Delta acts like a valve, a JFET transistor interpretation of the Megalith amplifier. It is designed to mimic the amp’s clarity, bottom end, character and clarity. Even the interaction between the phase inverter and power amp where considered.

This pedal has a flexible EQ section with three controls consisting of a traditional 3-Band EQ, Contour controls and the EQ Shift switch. The EQ Shift Switch lets you shift the EQ bands in three ways. The combination of the 3-band EQ and 3-position EQ Shift Switch gives you detailed control over your sound. The Contour control mimics the effect on the frequency response of the phase inverter in the power amp. Adjusting the Contour knob gives you tones that range from old-school tones with midrange emphasis, up to modern high gain with the typical scooped mid flavor.

Megalith Delta features two switches – Bypass and Gain Boost. Bypass lets you turn the effect on and off, while Gain Boost mimics the feel of switching from mid-gain mode to high gain mode as in the Megalith Beta Amplifier.

Michael Ibrahim, the director of MI Audio was quoted saying: “The Megalith Delta high gain distortion pedal design came from years of R&D of our MI Amplification high gain amplifier, the Megalith Beta. It took some time for me to really understand the variables behind great high gain tones. But by designing the Megalith Beta amplifier from the ground up, I was able to really grasp how to make a complex, sophisticated high gain sound that kept all the nuances, huge bottom end and the clarity and character of the top end”.

Michael further explains everything saying, “The Megalith Delta pedal has the same structure as if it were another channel of the Megalith amplifier. What
makes the amplifier stand above the rest is its incredibly flexible EQ section that allows the user to dial in every shade of brutal metal and hard rock that transforms your clean channel into a monster of high gain proportions.

The pedal offers a true bypass circuit, and is powered by a 9v battery or equivalent DC power adapter.

The Megalith Delta High Gain Distortion Pedal is expected to sell for around $250.
