10 million compact BOSS pedals sold since 1976

BOSS has announced that guitarists and musicians have purchased over 10 million BOSS compact effects pedals since the company's launch in 1976.

"We're honored and grateful to be in this position," relates President of BOSS U.S. Paul Youngblood. "It's clear that BOSS has delivered a rugged and reliable solution for musicians worldwide. For more than 30 years, our product has helped artists craft their own unique sounds both on stage and in the recording studio. We embrace their efforts enthusiastically and see them as the future of our business."

BOSS ignited the compact pedal business in the 1970s with the widely popular OD-1 Overdrive pedal and has steadily established itself as the top compact pedal manufacturer in the world. With an overwhelming presence, immense impact and unparalleled grit, the BOSS product line has become the de facto standard against which all other pedals are measured.

They may look candy-coated in color, but there is nothing mild about BOSS products. Their road-tough pedals have been put to the test time and time again and come out stomping.

"We've had hundreds of people call us over the years and tell us that their pedals were trapped in fires, accidentally tossed out of running vehicles, submerged under inches of water for days, run over by a big rig," Youngblood reports. "We get the craziest stories. But the reason almost every one of these people is calling isn't to complain about the fire, or the flood, or the big rigs. It's to say how grateful they are that the pedal still worked after all it had been through."

Since the '70s, BOSS has developed solid relationships with the guitarists and bassists in multiple genres from the Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Pop, Country, Punk and Worship communities.

"We didn't have any sort of formal artist program for almost 30 years and still the pros are out there talking. They're out there buying pedals, putting them into their rigs and telling their friends. It doesn't get any more authentic than that," says Youngblood.

The stable of BOSS advocates now includes such heavy-hitters as Steve Vai, Dave Navarro, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci and countless others.
