Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter

Carl Martin unveils the Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter, combining two compressors in one pedal.

Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor Limiter

Developed with the help of virtuoso Andy Timmons, this pedal was born out of his request for a Compressor/Limiter pedal that can quickly switch presets without compromising quality.

This pedal is based on the original Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter, and is described by the company as being the same versatile dynamics processor, only improved on for better flexibility.

The story goes that Andy Timmons has been using the original compressor pedal for a long time, and have two of them setup differently, one for subtle rhythm parts and another for hard compression and sustain ideal for solos. And so he requested that a version of the compressor pedal be made with two presets, providing him with the versatility he needs without having to take up the space of two pedals.

Andy and Carl Martin ended up with the new signature pedal, having a two sets of compression rate and level knobs. This allows for having different compression values depending on your needs, and doing so intuitively without diving into the digital realm.

Unfortunately, there are no independent Threshold and Response knobs for each preset, the company opted to just have the two settings globally apply to both sections to save on space and to reduce the complexity of setting up the pedal. The threshold and response knobs are smaller at 6mm, so you won't accidentally move them and unnecessarily change the settings as you tweak the other knobs.

The official description says, "The Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter has been developed to incorporate the same features, sonic clarity, quietness, and performance of the best studio compressor/limiters."

Unique to this pedal is the implementation of the newly developed DC/DC converter circuitry. This allows the pedal to run with +- 12V internally to retaining the same sonic quality and headroom as the old version, while using a regular 9V DC 200ma power supply. They also added an extra 1/4" jack for you to plug in an footswitch for preset switching.

Pricing information and other details will soon be available at Carl Martin.
