Guitar wizard Steve Morse is best known as the founder of Dixie Dregs, but he has actually been the main guitarist of Deep Purple since 1994. Steve was the first Deep Purple member to be assimilated into the TonePrint collective, creating two TonePrints for the Hall of Fame Reverb pedal and one for the Flashback Delay and Looper pedal. Anyone who has seen him play knows that he can easily switch between rock, country, funk, jazz and classical – so his guitar sound has to be as versatile as his technique. This means that the Tone Prints he created must be able to accompany him as he seamlessly switches between styles.

Now another Deep Purple member joins TC Electronic’s archive of artist created TonePrints. They caught up with Roger Glover in Germany and he cooperated to create two TonePrints for the Hall Of Fame Reverb pedal. First of which is aptly named Roger’s Spare Room 1, inspired by Jaco’s solo reverb-drenched sound. It mixes chorus and reverb that gives the sound a nice round “quack” with a soft attack. Like the sound from with which it took inspiration, this reverb effect is ideal for bass soloing.

The second Roger Glover TonePrint is called Roger’s Fun at Home, it was designed to recreate the short echoes in a large hall. The sound is described as having a hall reverb that is not too bright, and it adds some nice swells to what you are playing. As the name implies, this TonePrint is designed to make playing and practicing at home a bit more surreal and enjoyable.

Morten Ehlers, TC Electronic’s Business Manager for Bass, comments: “Roger Glover is a true musician. He’s a legendary bass player, great record producer and obviously a great songwriter. But he’s very cool and down to earth and just really loves music and cool sounds – perfect for doing great TonePrints!”
