If you want a really ‘hot’ nu metal sound, ultra high gainy then you could go for gibsons 500T model. these lack a lot of midrange though so be careful of what you want. You could always go for the gibson 498T which has the best of all worlds…has the good highs and also plenty of midrange. It’s really the midrange you wanna be looking for to get a really nice tone. Remember to get a really warm tone and get it right before you wanna go for the high distorted. I personally like the 490T. It has the gibson warm mids but also has the legendary ‘push’ to get into nice overdriven sounds. Check out Harmonycentral.com/guitars and review any pickups on there. Try to get an unbiased review though. Cause at the end of the day they are peoples opinions and are not always true to the pickup. For example, if someone has bought a 57 classic pickup and they wanted the nu metal sound then they will slate the pickup, cause they didn’t go for the 500t. Give it a look.
