I bought an alvarez 5227 new in 1986 for $200. My wife was recently told at a guitar shop that it is worth a decent amount, as it is an original, numbered Alvarez (not the new (Japanese?)stuff.The guy said that one of these in excellent condition could be worth $700-1000, but I can't verify his expertise, and would get more opinions if I want to sell it, which I don't. I've had this for almost 20 years and have only had to have the neck adjusted once. Great quality guitar.
