| I spent about a week racking my brain on who it could be and that's the end result. Scientifically proven. |

You don't seriously think I'm going to type "You sexy thing" do you, Lee? I've never met you, but...
Anyhoo, back on topic. For rock, I'd probably go with Robert Plant but, on Mr Versatile, Freddie Mercury. Am I alone in thinking that Ronnie James Dio was under-rated? He's probably been imitated more than any other brit-rock singer. |

whos the guy that did 'Since yourve been gone' ? ive yet to see or hear another singer that can hit the high note in it.
Daltry is very good, Plant goes without saying, Mercury totaly unique which is why Queen should give it up, which neatly gets me on to Paul Rogers, i know he tried the Queen thing, but what a vocalist in his own right. |

Graham Bonnet did "Since You Been Gone" for Rainbow, but suffered serial-sacker-Blackmore syndrome. Despite his penchant for dodgy mirrored shades (and, IIRC, Hawaiian shirts), a very fine vocalist.
Yes to Daltrey (he and Pete still the best performance of Live 8, better than Floyd) and no to Paul Rogers. Can't get that terrible mis-match of him and Queen at the UK HoF induction out of my head. |

Thats a shame about poor old Rogers, but i think we have to judge him on his past record, try to forget the Freddie days, go back to Bad Company and Free.
Damned good singer, and Rod in the faces too, we have to forget all the stuff that came after 76' , still a good rocker. |

| Going back to the "sacked by Blackmore" club; I like Ian Gillan, at least up to about 1982. In a screechy sort of way. His solo album had some good tracks. What did he call it... "Gillan"? |
