Transporting guitars overseas

What is the best way to transport guitars overseas? I'm moving from Australia to America in a few months and need to find the best way to protect my guitars (7 of them, 3 elec, 4 acoust). We have organised a shipping container for all our furniture etc, so i could put some in there. I'm assuming a humidifier in each case something similar would be a good idea but i'm concerned about temperature. I will be able to take one or two on the plane with me but i'm unsure what i shoud do to give them the best chance. I have flight cases for two but all others are just standard hard cases..
any help or shared experience would be greatly appreciated..
thanks
