Can someone identify this guitar?

:)

Hi,

New member and first post.

I recently bought this guitar on ebay. There were no identifying markings on it but it looked a lot like a Hofner to me. A Hofner collector looked at these photos and he thinks it is a Klira. I have never seen a Klira that looks like this. Can someone help me identify this guitar?

There are 32 pictures of the guitar on that site so the page may take a while to load. There are captions at the bottom of some of the pictures.

Thanks
Blaine

Hi
How much did you pay for it?

Take a look at the red Framus Sorella on this page (i know that the head is a little bit different) :
http://www.guitareelectrique.com/guit_oldtimer.html

Germany....maybe a Framus..

Purchased on ebay for ~$150US. Sold as a wall-hanger because neck was set improperly at the factory. Story is it was brought to the USA by an American serviceman who was posted in Germany in the 60s. It caught my eye because it appeared to be a Hofner.

Picture of my guitar:

Picture of Hofner of same vintage:

The Hofner is obviously a higher model with more embellishments. But the similarities (body shape, headstock shape, and pickguard) are striking.

Soooooo, What is it??? :?

The headstock is screaming out Hofner, maybe someone sanded the name off.

The headstock does not appear to have ever had a name or logo. I think it still has the original finish.

Stephen at Vintage Guitars Info http://www.provide.net/~cfh/hofner.html says that this guitar resembles a Hofner 449s thinline from ~1960. But he thinks it is a low end Klira.

This guitar has a faulty neckset from the factory.

The faulty neckset may have made it a factory reject. Perhaps that is why there is no name or logo on it.

????? :?

My chum Steve Russell runs a vintage hofner website. Type "hofner Selmer Wem" into a search and it'll take you to his site.

It looks a little like an Egmond.
