Question regarding an Alvarez K Yari DY85
I bought this guitar in 1980 – 1981 brand new! It has mother of pearl inlay around the sound box and up the key board! Its signed by Yari inside! Does anyone know anything about it or its value? The sounds is phenominal! The wood is awesome! Pristine condition! I’m almost ashamed I’m not a better musician! But that sound!!! Whoa!!

    Any info would be appreciated

      Hello,

The DY85 is a popular model for those that can’t find or afford the higher models that are all solid tonewoods.. you still get some of the glitz without busting your piggy bank! The DY85 is called the Standard Abalone, being at the bottom of the Abalone Series. Solid Spruce top, African Rosewood back, and Coral Rosewood sides (laminated). African Ebony bridge, Indian Ebony fb~ Gold Grover tuners. Binding and inlays, Abalone and Pearloid.

      Acoustic Bluebook:
      DY 85 STANDARD ABALONE
      – dreadnought style, Canadian spruce top, round soundhole, abalone and celluloid bound body and soundhole, black pickguard,
burled mahogany sides, three piece burled mahogany/rosewood/burled mahogany back, nato mahogany neck, 14/20-fret ebony
fingerboard with abalone inlay, ebony bridge, internal lacquering, 3-per-side gold Grover tuners, available in Natural finish, mfg. circa mid-1970s.
      Excellent Average
      $700 – 825 $425 – 500

      Regards,
      YL
