Blackheart's Little Giant tube amps want to make big impression

Blackheart Engineering may not be a big name in amps, it may even be unheard of, but that's not to say these little guys won't be creating some nice amps. They recently released their boutique, all tube Little Giant series, and at just $250US for BH5-112 combo, prices look rather good.

Here's the details from the Blackheart website:

Little Giant Head BH5H

Blackheart BH5H

"5W, Single-Ended, Class A amp powered by an EL84 and voiced through a 12AX7 preamp tube. The Blackheart Little Giant BH5H is a truly classic boutique amplifier design delivered in a robust, stylish package. With a switchable pentode/triode selector and 3-band EQ controls you get the only amp in its class to deliver true tonal range, from instantaneous punch to deliciously greasy overdrive, and with precise control over output volume."

Little Giant Cabinet BH112

Blackheart BH112

"Built around a 12" Blackheart by Eminence Speaker in a 15 ply (18mm), classically joined, void free plywood cabinet, the BH112 makes a perfect pairing for the Blackheart Little Giant 5 head (BH5H) or as an extension cab to the Little Giant 5 combo (BH5-112), or use it to maximize the tone of any amp in your arsenal. From its incredibly well crafted construction to its clean tolex work, the Blackheart BH112 is a great value in a portable, powerful and boutique quality extension cabinet."

Little Giant Combo BH5-112

Blackheart BH5-112

"5W, Single-Ended, Class A combo amp powered by an EL84 and voiced through a 12AX7 preamp tube. The Blackheart Little Giant BH5-112 combo is a truly classic boutique amplifier design delivered in a robust, stylish package. With a switchable pentode/triode selector and 3-band EQ controls you get the only amp in its class to deliver true tonal range, from instantaneous punch to deliciously greasy overdrive, and with precise control over output volume. Every feature of the Blackheart Little Giant BH5-112 represents zealous dedication to true quality in tone, looks and ruggedness. The open back tuned design and (blue frame) Blackheart model 1216A Speaker by Eminence is the fruit of extensive research involving Crate and Eminence. The result is a very musical and responsive combo. Under its sexy exterior you'll find a 16 gauge, folded and welded steel chassis, 1/2" corner radiuses, 15 ply, void-free birch cabinetry and meticulous tolex work insuring years of reliable performance."

Back 13.11.2007

I just ordered mins to see how it will sound. I will post a comment when it arrives. I ordered the head/cab.

> Charlie Golmon | 25.11.2007

I ordered the combo. Hope it screams!

> Alphonse Mensch | 27.11.2007

I just ordered the head from M.F. and received an email telling me it would be some time before it was shipped and thanking me for my patience????
I went back and looked at the site and realized that I'd be waiting for at least two months. Damn! They must be selling those little guys way faster than they can make-em.
If you don't have your's already be prepared to stand in line - a long one - with me, LOL.

> Jim in Monterey | 18.12.2007

They are still hard to find, I had to get the cab from AMS and the head from MF, paid about $50 more that way but at least I have both pieces and the extra money was worth it so I don't have to wait.
