Fargen Amplification launches the limited edition John Lennon Artist Series Amplifier, highlighting Lennon’s art and tone.
These amplifiers pay tribute to one of the greatest artists of our time, showcasing John Lennon’s guitar tone and artwork in a package that will surely appeal to fans.
The limited edition John Lennon Artist Series amplifiers starts off the series, which will be followed by another set of limited edition amps called the Imagine Series. All this will culminate into the release of production model John Lennon Signature amplifiers, built and produced by Ben Fargen and his team in the USA.
The John Lennon Artist Series is currently available, its most prominent feature is its white overall theme. Each amp is fitted with custom white components to give it its distinct look, highlighting both the sound and the art of the Beatle’s popular front man.
John Lennon Signature Artist Amplifier Controls
This “boutique” amp is engineered to carefully mimic John Lennon’s tone from the ’60s up to his last works. To achieve this, it is fitted with 2xEL84 tubes for its 15 Watt power amp section and it has 2x12AX7 preamp and phase inverter tubes. Authentic vintage parts were used to get as close to the vintage Beatle tone as possible including belton high-grade tube sockets and vintage carbon comp resistors. Ben Fargen also custom built a proprietary JL-15 Alnico Speaker just for these amps.
Controls on the amp are kept simple, the most notable of which is its decade knob, which lets you pick between Lennon’s 60’s Liverpool and 70’s Plastic Ono Band tones.
Aside from looking good, the amp’s cabinet enclosure features dovetail-jointed solid Poplar sides and rear panels. It is designed to give the amp a warm and natural tone projection that matches the vintage vibe of the amplifier.
To highlight John Lennon’s art, the front of the amp features a special acoustically transparent and UV-protected grill cloth. This grill cloth serves as the canvass for John Lennon’s various drawings that are available in a limited numbered edition. Five of John Lennon’s designs are currently available in limited numbered editions of 11 each.

Additional designs for the Artist Series will soon be available. Fargen Amplification will also be releasing production models based on the limited edition amplifiers. Another interesting news is that Fargen is expected to release two John Lennon Signature guitar effect pedals.
