The changes being introduced in this latest iteration of the Classic Series are the result of customer input and technology improvements collected over the past 20 plus years, the result being versatile amps that cover vintage to modern tones conveniently.

Hartley Peavey fondly recalls an important turning point that shaped his career and his company to what it is today – it was a Bo Diddley concert in Mississippi back in 1957. The tones that he heard in that event served as the inspiration for Peavey’s first amplifier, which has now grown to become a worldwide brand. The Peavey Classic Series amps are direct descendants of this first amplifier, keeping old school tone and tube design while incorporating modern reliability and flexibility.

Fast forward to today, Peavey is again improving on this long running amplifier line, while retaining its classic tone and appeal. The press release mentions that internal components were redesigned and improved, the most notable change being the amp having fewer electrical interconnects, this results in improved reliability and quality.

Other improvements include the use of better power supply capacitors, more robust transformers, ceramic tube sockets, higher power resistors and enhanced cooling. These internal changes make for a more reliable tube amp, that can be used in the studio or taken out for live gigs. More importantly, they did all these while still retaining affordable price points for each amp.

Other features found on all three amps include chrome plated chassis, 3-band passive EQ, pre and post gain controls for the lead channel, two channel preamp, effects loop connectivity, footswitch with selectable channel switching, reverb and boost control.

To get the classic tone right, Peavey equipped the amps with three 12AX7 pre amp tubes and four EL84 power tubes. There are currently 5 models available in the Classic Series, and here is what Peavey says about them:

“Classic Series models include the Classic 30 112, Classic 50 212, Classic 50 410, Delta Blues 115 Tweed, and the Delta Blues 210 Tweed. The Classic 30 and both Delta Blues amplifiers have an added standby switch, jeweled point lens, an external main fuse, and 30 watts of power into 16 or 8 ohms. The Classic 30 features a 12-inch Steven’s Trusonic speaker while the Delta Blues amps have a 15-inch Celestion Fullback speaker and two 10-inch Blue Marvel speakers in the 115 and 210 respectively. The two Classic 50s are both 50 watts into 16 or 8 ohms and fan cooled with two 12-inch Blue Marvel speakers in the 212 and four 10-inch Blue Marvel speakers in the 410.”
