Fender Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster

Fender honors the 60th Anniversary of the Strat by releasing new Limited Edition American Standard Stratocasters.

This release features four distinct looking Stratocasters that gives you special finish options and the choice between traditional and modern channel bound fretboard design.

These special run Strats come with four distinct looks – Aztec Gold finish with parchment pickguard and maple fingerboard, Vintage White finish with tortoiseshell pickguard and rosewood fretboard, Dakota Red finish with rosewood channel bound fretboard and Sonic Blue finish also with channel bound rosewood fretboard.

The elegant looking Limited Edition Mystic Aztec Gold finish Strat is my personal favorite. It carries over all the features found on regular American Standard Strats, with the familiar double-cutaway alder body, bolt-on maple neck and maple fretboard combination. The only thing that really sets it apart is its eye-candy gold finish.

The Limited Edition Vintage White finish version follows the American Standard Strat with rosewood fretboard design. It offers a distinct retro-flavored appeal, thanks to the light and dark combinations of the vintage white finish, parchment plastic parts, dark rosewood fretboard and tortoiseshell pickguard.

The Limited Edition Dakota Red and Sonic Blue American Standard Stratocasters introduce modern enhancements to the neck and fretboard. They come with the company’s “channel-bound compound-radius fingerboard”, which is said to offer improved comfort for the fretting hand, which then results in better playability.

We’ll let the press release speak for itself, “The fingerboard is inlaid into the neck in a design with an elegant appearance and a distinctive fretting-hand feel in which both edges are comfortably rounded, with no side seam between neck and fingerboard. Further, the fingerboard’s 9.5”-14” compound radius graduates smoothly from a more rounded profile at the nut (great for chording) to a more flattened profile near the body (great for soloing).”

All the usual Strat specs are present for all four guitars, including the 25.5″ scale length, 1.685″ nut width, modern “C” neck profile and 9.5″ fingerboard radius. The Dakota Red and Sonic Blue finish versions come with 21 frets while the Aztec Gold and Vintage White versions have 22 frets total.

The same trio of Custom Shop ’50s Single-Coil Strat pickups are used on all four guitars. They are wired to standard 5-way pickup selectors, a master volume knob and two tone knobs.

The advertised price for the Limited Edition Dakota Red and Sonic Blue “Channel Bound” Strat is $1,449.99, while the Aztec Gold and Vintage White models are priced at $1,299.99. For further details and other information, visit Fender.
