Framus Pro Series Mayfield Legacy

The company describes the motto behind re-designing and building this guitar as “Teambuilt & Made in Germany”, featuring improved quality, build while still remaining competitively priced.

Framus Custom Shop has been building guitars in Markneukirchen Germany for over 20 years, and now they draw from their experience to produce the new Pro Series, of which the Mayfield Legacy guitar is part of.

The press release says, “These instruments are produced in Germany from the finest ingredients and with the best possible production methods, and they are offered at a very attractive price. Only the very best machines in the world are used to carve these extraordinaire guitars.

Like other guitars from the German Pro Series, the wood used on the Mayfield Legacy are hand picked and naturally air dried to give it the appearance and feel of old wood. The tone woods are then glued at the company’s Markneukirchen facility. Fingerboard and fret work are also completed in the same facility, after which they are finished and assembled at a partner site near the area. Once completed, the guitar is then inspected, set up and shipped out from the Markneukirchen manufacturing facility.

The body is crafted from laminated mahogany, carved into a double cutaway shape to the style of the ES-335, although a bit slimmer. The top is arched following the traditional way of building semi-hollow instruments.

The neck of the guitar is crafted from mahogany, and topped by a rosewood fretboard. It has a fingerboard radius of 12″, scale length of 24.75″ and it sports a total of 22 nickel silver jumbo frets installed using the company’s IFT (Invisible Fretwork Technology).

Giving the guitar its voice are two Seymour Duncan Soapbar style pickups with black cover (SP90 RWRP / SP90, Vintage Soapbar P90). They are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and four knobs that let you adjust independent volume and tone for each of the two pickups.

Aside from the use of seasoned wood, other features of this guitar include fluorescent fretboard side dots, TonePros branded hardware, Graph Tech ratio tuning machines, Graph Tech saddle, and Cleartone strings.

The new Framus Pro Series Mayfield Legacy is expected to start shipping in June or July of this year, and it comes bundled with a Rockbass Starline bag. The guitar is currently available for pre-order with a price tag of €2,823,41 . Visit Framus for further details.
