This limited run guitar is a special Nashville Junior model that features a semi-hollow body with chambered spruce center-block. It has a distinct looking Jaguar Tan finish for the top and Copper Metallic finish for the back and sides.

The Nashville Junior is a smaller version of the original Nashville “6120” guitar model that Chet Atkins used to popularize the Gretsch brand. This guitar was sought after for its comfortable body profile, making it easier to play and carry around. Now Gretsch is offering a limited edition Nashville Junior model that has some interesting things to offer.

The most notable feature of this limited edition guitar is its chambered spruce center-block. Instead of the usual solid center blocks that other thinline guitars use, the new G6112TCB-JR Center-Block LTD 2-Tone comes with a semi-hollow center block. According to the press release, the chambered center-block helps in reducing the weight of the instrument, and is said to produce more lively, spirited tone. Body resonant feedback are also minimized, making this limited run guitar more high-gain friendly.

The guitar’s thin 1.75″ deep semi-hollow body is made from three-ply maple. Both the top and back are arched, and are wrapped by two-ply black and white binding. The body follows the classic lower-cutaway shape for convenient higher fret access while the dual f-holes showcase the inside of the guitar. The lower bout of the body is measured at 14″, following the Nashville Junior model shape.

The three-piece maple neck has a “U” shaped profile, topped by a 12″-radius ebony fretboard. It has a total of 22 medium frets and features Neo-Classic pearloid thumbnail inlays. The nut is made of bone while the pinned ebony bridge bass extends slightly beyond the sides of teh center block. According to Gretsch, this design helps in transferring string-vibration energy to the two f-hole chambers, resulting in a richer more full bodied sound.

Gretsch equipped this guitar with two High Sensitive Filter’Tron pickups that are routed to a three position pickup switch and G-Arrow knobs that provide independent volume controls for each pickup and a dedicated knob for the master volume.

Other features of the guitar include copper metallic pickguard, Adjusto-matic bridge with pinned ebony base, Bigsby B-3C tailpiece, Grover Sta-Tite tuners, Schaller strap locks and nickel-plated hardware.

The new Gretsch G6112TCB-JR Center-Block LTD 2-Tone guitar is currently retailing online for $2,450. Visit Gretsch Guitars for more information.
