This semi-hollow body guitar follows the elegant shape and appearance of the more expensive EKM100, with some minor changes to bring the down the price to a more reasonable range.

Eric Krasno is known for his guitar work with funk jazz trio Soulive, and has been wielding semi-hollow guitars for many of his studio and live performance works. His most recent being the Ibanez EKM100 which is custom built to his preferred specs.

Now Ibanez is following up on this release with the EKM10T, which carries the same look and vibe but priced lower. Just like the first one, this new signature model is built to Krasno’s specs, designed to work well with his mix of blues, jazz and funk guitar style.

The chambered body of the guitar is crafted from flamed maple, featuring elegant grains that shine through the translucent Wine Red finish. Replacing the DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary pickups of the original are two Ibanez Super 58 PAF style humbuckers, which are described as having the “biting growl” heard on many blues and jazz records. The pickups are wrapped in gold to complement the guitar’s overall aesthetics and tone.

The two humbuckers are wired to traditional style circuitry that includes a 3-way pickup selector, and four knobs that provide independent control over the volume and tone of each of the two pickups.

The scale length of the guitar is 24.75″, and it has a 3pc mahogany/maple set-in neck. It is carved into the same specs as the first Eric Krasno signature and is topped by an ebony fretboard with medium frets with Artstar fret edge treatment. Although described as an affordable version, the EKM10T does not lack in the aesthetics department, featuring all gold hardware and full body and fingerboard bindings. The fretboard block inlay markers are crafted using acrylic and abalone inlay, adding to the instrument’s premium appeal.

Other features of the guitar include an ART-2 Roller bridge and VBS80 vibrato, Ibanez’ modern version of old school roller saddle infused with improved intonation and performance capabilities.

The new Ibanez EKM10T Eric Krasno Signature is currently retailing for just under $1200. Head over to Ibanez For more information.
