Aguilar Hot Series Precision and Jazz Bass Pickups
Aguilar introduces the Aguilar Hot Series AG 4P-HOT and AG 4J-HOT, loud replacement pickups for Precision and Jazz basses.
The new Hot Series expands on their collection of 4-string P-Bass and J-Bass replacement pickups, giving bassists a new and louder set.
As the name implies, the new Hot Series pickups are "hot", thanks to their large 16MM magnets and over-wound design. This set presents a unique alternative to the usually passive pickup replacements that are available for Jazz and Precision style basses.
Both the AG 4P-HOT and AG 4J-HOT give you hotter outputs that can easily push the input of your amplifier. This results in an immediately upfront and big tone, with lows that are thunderously huge.
Usually hotter pickups meant that you have to compromise some dynamics, which might not be advisable especially for J-Bass and P-Bass players. But Aguilar is claiming that the Hot Series will retain all the dynamics of your playing style. The pickups are designed to reproduce all the grit and nuance of your finger or pick attack, and it does so without losing midrange.
Like the other Aguilar pickup sets, the Hot Ps and Hot Js are wound in Aguilar’s NYC factory. These pickups are produced using 42 gauge heavy Formvar wire and larger, 16mm Alnico V magnets.
With more and more bassists using their pickups, Aguilar continues to ramp up their bass pickup replacement products. If you play your Precision or Jazz bass in a band that plays loud music, this could just be the upgrade you need to be able to cut through the band.
The Hot pickups is scheduled to be available on February 15th 2013.
