This space saving stompbox carries all the essential features of the original bass big muff, including the three knobs and the dry switch.
It all started with the green Sovtek Big Muff Pi and the original EHX Big Muff Pi released in the '70s. Although they were meant for guitars, bass players have used them to help thicken their low-end frequencies. This prompted Electro-Harmonix to build a version that is specifically tailored to handle the lower frequencies of electric bass guitars.
Fast forward to the present, we find the company succumbing to the ever increasing demand for pedals that take up less space. So they miniaturized the circuit of the original bass big muff and fit it inside the smaller Nano format, resulting in a smaller pedal that gives out the same sound. According to the press release, this pedal "offers sounds from a slight but satisfying grit to an over-the-top wall of bass fuzz."
As requested by modern bassists, the Nano Bass Big Muff Pi comes with a Dry toggle switch that will let you mix the distorted signal with the dry signal. This means that you can retain the clean tone of your bass while adding a layer of fuzz/distorted tone.
While other mini pedals compromise control, this one comes with all the three knobs from the original - volume, tone and sustain. Volume sets the effect output, while Sustain controls the amount of distortion. Tone tailors the sound from a deep throbbing bass to a sizzling treble fuzz.
Other features of this bass effect pedal include True Bypass and 9volt or AC adapter power options. To ensure reliability, EHX utilized a solid die-cast exterior.Features:
- Tailor your drive and distortion with Sustain, Tone and Volume controls
- New Dry switch mixes the dry bass signal, at unity level, with the distortion
- True bypass for maximum signal path integrity
- Rugged die-cast chassis
- 9Volt battery included, optional EHX 9.6DC-200 AC adaptor available.
