Hi, fellow twanger … it's been a long while since I've posted my Weekly Lesson here. Sorry about that, I've been up to here with 'stuff', not the least of which is a new baby daughter.
PlaneTalk – The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book/DVD – http://www.thatllteachyou.com
Before I list the many lessons I've created since my last post, I'd just like to mention that my book/DVD PlaneTalk continues to fly out the door at an ever increasing rate. I've also changed the package recently to include “The Chord Tone Blues” stand-alone CD lesson. It's a five-movie in depth look at how to approach the Blues from a chord point of view rather than scale. We all know how to noodle through the 5 or 6 note 'boxes' to play the blues, but why restrict yourself to 5 or 6 notes when there are 12 to play around with? The progression I use is the one in “The Red Start Blues” movie I did a while back; this is an example of playing the blues without thinking scales/modes:

So the package now consists of 1) the Book — explains in a very user-friendly way the 'trick' to seeing your whole fretboard as familiar territory; 2) the Slide Rule — which graphically crystallizes it all; 3) The DVD — it demonstrates the simple visualization technique in real time/real music examples; 4)The Chord Tone Blues — the CD lesson described above. 5) Unrestricted access to the PlaneTalkers' Forum where we banter on about it all on a daily basis.
Guaranteed to advance your playing and understanding of the guitar and music by light years.
That's all at the PlaneTalk site: http://www.thatllteachyou.com

Slide Guitar in Standard Tuning – http://www.bottleneckguitar.com
There's nothing quite as spicy as tossing in a couple of slide lines in amongst your normal playing. Of course, to do that, you'd probably like to stay in familiar standard tuning. I got into it years ago and I can tell you that all flavors are there — major, minor, maj7, min7, aug, dim, 11th, 9th, sus4 — you just need to know where to look. I put together a 70 minute DVD showing all I know about the art. Check it out here: http://www.bottleneckguitar.com … there are many video examples on the homepage there too.
Check out my YouTube site. I've had 1,180,000 views of my guitar videos there so far! http://au.youtube.com/user/planetalk
OK, back to it … see? I have been busy. It's just that I've been forgetting to send this in to GuitarSite every Tuesday. Oh oh, little Georgia Lorange is bawling! Better go check on her …
All the best,
