: : : I have a George Washburn 1989 Limited Edition serial # is D185? : : Could it be a 1989 George Washburn Limited Edition Model D18S (S for solid top) If so I also have one. The Washburn company has told me that they have no records of that model and the president of Washburn is looking into it for me. My model is serial # 0018, My model and serial numbers are engraved into a piece of wood fixed to the bracing in the sound hole and labeled as Hand Made. I was recently offered $1800 for it. No Sale, of course. It appears to be quite unique and has a wonderful sound, I play it daily.

I also have one of these. Have you found anything out about it yet? I traded in a low end Fender and paid $300 for it from a guy who I’m pretty sure wasn’t sure about the value of it.

I have one of these Hand made Martin D18s clones The George Washburn “The 1989” Limitedin with the #27 as its stamped production number. This was given to me years ago by a well known Nashville musician as a gift. I become curious about info regarding my guitar when someone told me that Martin guitars sued Washburn to rid the market of these exact copies but the only information I can find on the internet is more than several years old. I can’t find any recent pricing or players reviews. Any guitar aficionados out there in the internet ether that feels willing to share your knowledge?

Been playing this since 1989. I’ve played various Martins at guitar stores over the years and I always come to the same conclusion: this guitar sounds better. The low notes on the Washburn have a brighter and more definitive tone than the Martin, the latter of which to my ear have a muted and muddy bass tone. The guitar stays in perfect tune. I got it as a Christmas present.
