Attempting to purchase individual strings to customize a set of ‘short scale elec. bass strings. I own a Gibson (early 70’s?) Les Paul Triumph and am hoping to balance out the sound a bit. Presently has .040-G, .050-D, .075-A, .090-E. Wish to go next size larger for top two strings (.042 -G & .052 -D or something close) Bottom of bass is almost in the muddy area for timbre and don’t believe the width of the narrow neck will allow anything larger w/o rolling off on the low E. I do not wish to alter nut if I can help it. Can I purchase individual short scale strings anywhere? I believe it presently has a set of Rotosounds on it. Looking for a punchy, full sound (maybe even bright, due to the bass’s muddiness in lowest range.) I have recently encountered a brain hemorrhage and require the short scale due to loss of reach and dexterity. Feels wonderful to be able to get some emotional kick-back from something that has been lost, recently. I may not be as quick or as ‘witty & inventive ‘as I once was, but I swear it feels like I was given a slice of a miracle to just be able to feel the magic once again! Keep the playing faith and don’t take a second for granted…

In my opinion Thomastik Infeld’s Spectrum Series Bronze Med Light’s are the best Acoustic Guitar Strings I have found so far. Intonation is important to me as a fingerpicker and their strings get the job done period.

Vorerst möchte ich mich vorstellen:
Ich heiße Harald Paul, bin Mitglied und Songwriter der Pop, Rock Band : Crash Beat.
CB wurde in Frühjahr 1998 gegründet und hat nach intensiver Probe- und Vorbereitungszeit bereits zahlreiche Auftritte
inÖsterreich absolviert (Festivals, Eigenkonzerte…).
Der Hohe punkt unserer musikalischen Laufbahn war eine Indonesientournee im August-September 1999 bei welchen
wir unter anderen in der Fernseh-Musiksendung PESTA (Einschaltquote 20 Mio) – Anmerk. Indonesien hat ca. 260 Mio
Einwohner) und 2x Jakarta Fair (vor ca. 20.000 Zusehern) mitgewirkt haben. Während dieser Tournee wurde ein
namhafter Produzent und Songwriter (17 Hits in Malaysia, Brunei, Philipinen, Singapur und natürlich in Indonesien)
namens Oddie Agam auf uns aufmerksam, welcher uns produzieren möchte. (Album Produktion Start Juni2000,
10 songs, davon 5 in Indonesisch und 5 in Englisch).

Rotosound makes a flatwound nylon on steel core set,
and Fender makes a tapewound and a roundwound set.
Now, if you really need vinyl , look for Pyramid, they accept special requests… good luck
A company called Elixir makes vinyl covered bass strings. I’ve never used them, just noticed that they do exist!
yeah, they rock. They’ve got a really smooth sound, and they seem to last a long time. I’m probably about 2/3’s the way through my first set.
