You can get information on lap steel guitars and music from Billy Cooper’s Music Inc. 20504 Constitution Highway Orange Virginia 22960
This popular thread has been given its own page : OAHU Lap Steel Guitar
Please, can you help me? I am looking for information on an OAHU lap steel guitar. If you have an e-mail address that I could send pictures to, I would be happy to do so.
It is black with sort of yellow inlay and has 2 musical bars (like reading notes inlayed on it also. The back is a dark brown fabric like a velvet material and the serial number is X8066.
The metal label says OAHU Publishing Co … Cleveland O
Measurements are 2 1/2 ft. long x 7 1/2 in. wide at the widest part of the body.
I would like to find out the value, as I have a desire to sell it.
Thank you in advance for any info you can render.
If you don’t have info but know someone who may, that would be appreciated also.
Thank you for your time.

Hi: My name is Bernie, I live on Oahu, I am not Hawaiian, but have a real thirst for the instruments played by the Hawaiian musicians. I worked as an audio engineer for near 30 years, I have a backround in electronics and wood working. It seems almost imposible to get a decent lap steel guitar in Hawaii as well as the Hawaiian steel guitars. Any information or help would be apreciated, I have been playing slide guitar and recived a dobro for XMas. I am just finishing a resonating Baratone ukelele using a 6" resonator from Natioal and an old 4 pole pick up seymor duncan made for solid body mandolins back in the 60’s. Mahalo Bernie
Bernie: Do you know about the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association PO Box 1497 Kailua HI. April 28 through May 3 will be a steel convention at the Queen Kapi’olani Hotel. The best Hawaii has to offer will be there and possibly your best source of information. See you there? Chuck Trombley
Have you found Superior Hawai’ian Guitar yet?

Hey I know this might be a stupid question but im a sixteen year old guitar playing fanatic but i’ve looked all over the internet to find out exactly the difference between a regular 6 string guitar and a baritone 6 string??? Obviously the tone or pitch of the guitar is different but could you think you could elaborate on that and tell me exactly what a baritone guitar is???? I would appreciate it sooo much its driving me crazy!!! Thanks man,

Warmoth is the best place I can think of for guitar building. Their website is http://www.warmoth.com They’re located in washington. They’ll do custom work for pretty reasonable prices, and they offer a lot of really nice exotic woods. If you’re looking for a place that sells stand-alone kits, http://www.edromanguitars.com sells some, but they’re not that great and a little overpriced. Warmoth also sells pickups and hardware, but I’d recommend buying the pickups somewhere else, the mark-up is a little high from Warmoth.
