Razorlight

I saw Razorlight on Jools last night and to be honest - I really don't know if I like them or not.
In one on respect, I thought it was quite a good song.
But in a way, I also thought they appeared fake.
I'm sitting on the fance at the moment, not sure which way I'm gonna fall.
That happens a lot to me with this wave of Euro/Pom bands from the last 5 or so years.
Which ones are they again? I know the name, but I can't place them. (Which pretty much goes for all the current crop of bands).
They have the singer who has the odd looking Gibson guitar, bolt on neck type, i think it's a Melody Maker or something like that.
I quite like them, but there are a lot better young bands around.
Oh, that guy who dresses in white all the time, and uses a Gibson L6.
Nah... don't like em.
Doh, you knew all along.
No, I needed prompting.
The first time I saw them it was just the frontman acoustic with some gospel singers (one of those sit on a hay-bale at Glasto TV slots) and I thought he was great. But I've never liked the band, shame.
You mean like Ernie prompts Eric?
Which other young bands to you recommend Lee?
"Rip it up" is the only song of theirs that actually does anything for me. As an interesting aside, the original Sgt Peppers engineers have done an "it was forty years ago today" redo and Razorlight were called in to do "With a Little Help from my Friends". Even allowing for the crumbly old soundmen's tendency to go "John and Paul did it this way" ALL THE TIME, they did have a point. The Razorlight bassman turned up with "a pretty good" idea of how the bassline went.
Macca's not an inyerface bassist and it's easy to overlook how clever his lines can be but Razorlight's bloke hadn't done his homework. That song is completely carried by the bass and absolutely has to be played right for the song to work. Much studio time wasted with the lazyarse trying to get it right. Very amusing for me when even pros fall down like that.
Umm...
