Fender unveiled new top of the line versions of their classic bass guitars, the Fender Select Jazz Bass and Fender Select Precision Bass.
Unveiled at NAMM 2012 along with five new Fender Select guitars, these new upgrades to their popular bass guitars are the result of Fender’s long history of guitar and bass manufacturing.
The Fender Select Bass Guitars will give you a selection of fine tone woods, compound radius fretboards on quartersawn maple necks and new sets of premium Fender Select pickups. The two new Fender Select Bass guitars employ Posiflex graphite support rods that provide improved neck stability. Notable features include the distinctive Fender/Hipshot vintage-style tuners with tapered shafts, High-Mass Vintage top-loading or strings-through-body bridge, three-ply “parchment-black-parchment” pickguard, knurled chrome knobs, stealth string retainer and nickel-chrome hardware. The back of the headstock has the Fender Select medallion, which distinguishes the new bass series from other Fender Bass guitars.
Fender Select Jazz Bass
The Fender Select Jazz Bass takes the classic Jazz bass design to new heights with emphasis on sonic versatility. Its core is the traditional Alder body with flame maple top, coated with an Amber Burst gloss-lacquer finish. It has a modernized quartersawn C shaped maple neck combined with a compound radius flame maple fretboard for increased playability. Other features include stylish white pearloid position inlays, 20 medium jumbo frets and two new Fender Select Jazz Bass pickups. The Fender Select Jazz Bass comes with a custom G&G Fender Select case, strap, cable and polishing cloth.
Fender Select Precision Bass
The Fender Select Precision Bass is a modern take on the classic and popular Fender Precision Bass shape. It has a vintage looking Two-color Sunburst gloss-lacquer finish set on a flame maple top with alder body. It has the same modernized C shaped quartersawn maple neck and compound radius flame maple fretboard for convenient playing. Other features include block pearloid dot inlays, 20 medium jumbo frets and the new Fender Select Precision Bass Split-Coil pickup. The Fender Select Precision Bass also comes with freebies – a strap, polishing cloth, cable, and a custom G&G Fender Select case.
