It has been 25 years since Ibanez first launched their originally designed RG series – Now the RG1XXV borrows some color from the past with some modern touches.
For an interesting annimated time line of the RG and S series check out the Ibanez 25th Anniversary page.
The Ibanez RG1XXV is based upon input from Ibanez fans where the best features of past RG models wer compiled into this one – how they decided the yellow and pink florescent finishes were ‘best’ is beyond me, but the coloring is certainly authentic.
The body is made from American Basswood connected to a 5pc Maple/ Walnut neck with a Rosewood fingerboard.
The RG1XXV comes with Jumbo frets and of course the neck is slim to give you the fast action the RG series is known for.
The pickup configuration looks quite good with American made ceramic DiMarzio pickups custom manufactured for Ibanez. The bridge position has a DiMarzio IBZ-B humbucker, in the middle is a DiMarzio IBZ-S single coil, and the neck pickup is also a humbucker DiMarzio IBZ-N.
There’s no word yet on the price or when they’ll hit the streets, but we’ll keep you updated.
