The JB200C is based on Jason’s DC200 the guitar that he himself chose when he went to Carvin for a custom shop guitar.

At age 14 Jason was ahead of his time, he could play through the catalogues of both Van Halen and Eric Clapton, and also figured out how to play Mozart’s greatest hits in impressive neo-classical speed-metal style. Things were going great and he was even signed to be the lead guitarist for David Lee Roth. However, his blooming career as a guitar player was stopped because he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – ALS) and was given only 3 to 5 years to live. Despite all this, Jason is still alive and going strong – he continuous to make music via a computer and communicating with his eyes using a system that his father developed for him.

To honor Jason Becker, Carvin decided to recreate his DC200. The original guitar was a traditional looking guitar equipped with a tremolo and finished in sapphire blue on flamed maple with a flamed maple fingerboard, black hardware and tung-oiled neck. It went on to become Jason’s main instrument appearing with him in magazine articles, ads and on stage. Now Carvin is bringing Becker’s original guitar back with the JB200C. Carvin Custom Shop worked with Jason to design this instrument as closely as possible to his original DC200. As with other Carvin custom guitars, you are afforded with a wide variety of optional changes and upgrades from finish to hardware.

At the core of the JB200C is its standard alder body and maple neck-through design. The slightly darker and resonant alder accentuates the tung-oiled 5-piece maple neck. You can select from a variety of different 5-piece neck combinations including walnut and koa. The neck underwent long periods of de-humidification and has Carvin’s dual-action truss rod to ensure long term stability. An engraved Jason Becker truss rod cover is featured on the headstock. The JB200C comes with a standard 25″ scale flamed maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets and abalone dot inlays. The neck features fast low action ideal for neo-classical and metal players.

Another prominent feature of this guitar is its original Floyd Rose tremolo, it comes paired with Sperzel locking tuners for tuning stability. It comes with M22SD humbucker in the bridge and an M22V pickup in the neck, both are custom wound with vintage plain enamel wire that are meant to produce harmonically reach tones and sustain. These humbuckers feature Carvin’s unique 11 pole-pieces per coil design which eliminates drop off when bending strings. Active electronics are standard and controls include master volume, tone, active cut/boost for bass and treble, dual to single coil switching and phase switching.
