The pedal is designed to mimic the behavior of an old British Plexi amp with EL34 tubes, with gain and dynamic range that covers everything from subtle to high-gain.

To achieve organic sounding distortion and overdrive, EHX utilized MOSFET semi-conductors for clipping. MOSFET is favored by pedal makers when attempting to emulate tube amp like behavior with a small pedal.

Controls on the pedal are pretty straightforward, with some added features that expand the tonal possibilities. The most basic control is the Volume knob, which lets you adjust the output volume. Turning up the volume knob will let turn the OD Glove into a boost pedal.

The Tone knob lets you roll off the highs, useful for taming bright guitars or amps. The third knob of the pedal is for adjusting Gain, it lets you dial in your desired amount of “dirt”.

According to EHX, the gain knob on this pedal is especially designed to be versatile, allowing for a wide range of tones from subtle to modern high-gain. Properly matching the vol and gain settings, and adjusting the volume knob of your guitar, will give you access to a variety of classic tones, from fat blues, to mid-heavy SRV style ones and even modern high-gain British crunch sounds.

Added tonal flexibility is provided by the pedal’s Tone Shift feature, a small switch on the center of the pedal the boosts the mids when engaged. Another modern feature of the pedal is the ability to adjust the internal voltage to either 9V or 18V. The default setting (9V) gives it a slightly compressed tube like feel. Switching it to 18V tightens the sound and produces modern overdrive/distortion tones.

Here is the OD Glove pedal in action:

EHX describes the pedal as having “Rich, overtone laden sound that doesn’t get muddy. Responsive controls that take you from sparkling, clean boost through brown crunch and all the way to thick, saturated hi-gain.”

The pedal comes in a compact profile with a robust die-cast chassis. It features modern true bypass circuitry and can be powered via a 9V battery or through the optional 9.6DC-200 power supply.
