i also own a really nice kawai guitar, its thin, light, and it has 4 speakers with 4 switches to activate them. this guitar is rare, its just one of the coolest guitar i have seen so far, i would like to know how old its is, and if it cost some money, wich i really dont care im gonna keep this beauty!
Re: 60's Kawai Guitar
my first electric guitar (back in '65) was a kawai...what a piece of crap that was. it kinda looked like a strat - thin solid-body, double cutaway, exaggerated fender-style head, but it weighed a ton, and the neck and electronics were horrible. i don't remember what i paid for it, but it was in the range of zim-gar and other japanese brands (less than $40 new) - hell, you could get a used gretsch in excellent condition for $50 in those days.
i think i ended up burning it or smashing it (as was the style in those days - i also burned a VOX Phantom - does anyone remember those?

Re: 60's Kawai Guitar
I don't own a kawai myself but my uncle does. It is an electric/acoustic, very big and bulky, has 2 pickups, a whammy bar, and is sunburst with a dark brown pickguard. Anyone with any info. on the approximate age or worth e-mail me. Thanx.
Re: 60's Kawai Guitar
I just recived a Kawai acustic guitar from my grandfather, I also wanted some information about the guitar, I know it is from around 1961, but that is all. If nothing else I would like to know something about the company which made it. If you happen to stumble apon this and have some knowlage of the of which I speak, E-mail me.
Kawai Guitar
I also have a Kawai guitar that I received as a gift from my grandfather about 1977 or so. It is a big body acoustic with a black pickguard and some type of design on the guard. It was at least a few years old when I got and maybe older! Does anyone know anything about this guitar.

I bought a guitar like that one in the middle 60's
It cost me then $175.00 I don't know how much is it worth today, but I estimate an average of $300.00 to $700.00 depending on it's condition. I still have that guitar and plan to auction it on ebay.
