: Hey lefties! We rule!! Anyway, I want to learn to play guitar as a lefty. BIG QUESTION: Is it possible to learn to play left-handed on a right-handed guitar? That is, not restrung upside down or buying a left-handed guitar. I understand the key challenge is learning to strum upside-down. True? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Left Hand Guitar Player

I've recieved some e mails and to answer. I wouldn't insist on anyone playing upside down but the most important factors are a perfectly tuned guitar, very important, and a chord chart with an open mind. some chords you have to improvise, and play leads off of the chords, use your thumb over the top for a G cord and also for barring situations. Rythm is also very important, which to some people you just can't teach. When I learned, we had TV with 2 channels and played at the ball field, that was the 60s and the reason you had to be creative for entertainment, not so now.
