hofner bass pickups

I bought two of the Hofner bass pickups on e-bay and I don't know how to fix them. I opened them,and a wire is pulled off the spool on one of them and I put the three wires on the plate of the bottom of the pickup and sodded them all togetter and conected the one wire from the control panel to the one wire coming off the pick ups. I have the schematic,but can't read it. I was aware that the pickups where messed up when I bought them and I am looking for help to learn how to do them right to finish my Hofner bass conversion on my Jay Turser wana-be. Please help me!
