To tune A; play an A on the E string (fifth fret) then an open A. They should sound axact. Do the same for D(using A fith fret),G(using D fith fret), and E(using B fifth fret). For B it’s the forth fret on the G string. goodluck!

I recently signed up to play bass guitar for my church because they were in desperate need, and I knew how to read music, but I came across notes like c 2 sharp and f minor third, and such. I am requesting help on bass notes, and, if perhaps the notes were originally written for an acoustic guitar what I should play. The church music is written with a note or two notes with a slash in between them above about every measure. Could you send me a chart with what note i should play for anything written? Please help

You play the notes following the slash – which are the root notes of the guitar chord. When there is no slash, you play the note indicated. You GENERALLY don’t have to be concerned with any notation associated with a stand-alone chord. i.e. Am7, Dm, Dsus, etc. You just play the "note" such as A or D. Hope that helps.
Remember – lock in with the drummer – if there is one. Charlie

I have a new electric acoustic guitar and need help tuning it and learning simple songs
