I sell guitar of Santos Hernandez de Palosanto of Rio, of 1925. It is in good conditions to give concerts, although it has restorations of fissures in the back and front, restored by Juan Estruch 1960 and Santos Bayón in 2005. I have photos. The sound is the most beautiful thing to that a human being has listened.

Hello all,

I am in the market for a new flamenco guitar. I have some preconceptions about what I do and don't want, but I thought I'd ask your opinions about some specific models. I have heard glowing reviews of the new Ramirez 1aF, and I know that Conde is THE industry standard at the moment. I have a fondness for Gerundino as well (without ever seeing one in person) - any comments on those?

I see lots of professionals playing Condes, but very little mentioned about the Ramirez. Any idea why? From what I've read, Ramirez has really started making terrific quality, easily played, traditional sounding flamencos. I just see little press about them.

Do any of you have experience with these new Ramirez flamencos? How do they compare to the high-end Condes? How about projected resale value? Will a Ramirez flamenco tend to retain its value as their classical concert models do? I assume that Ramirezes (<-- is this the proper plural form?) command a high resale value not only becuase they are great guitars, but also because they are the brand everyone knows. I steered away from a Ramirez classical when I bought mine because so many people I know play them. I have a similar feeling with the Conde. I like to play something different, even if it is illogical.

I understand that your replies will all be subjective, but I am interested in hearing from others.

Enough of my babble - can you take a few moments to tell me your thoughts?

This is a rare example in very good condition. No repairs or cracks, original finish. Only tap plate recently replaced as the old one was peeling off. Superb sound and playability. Price GBP7500 excl. shipping etc.

This guitar is the real thing. It was made a few years after Smallman began to build his first lattice braced guitars, a design that revolutionized guitar building. It was made of cedar and Brazilian rosewood and is in wonderful condition. This guitar has enough power to satisfy the most demanding guitarist. The sound of the trebles is "thick". The basses are profound, earth shaking. The overall tone I can describe as "woody". The tone is smooth and consistent up and down the guitar. It is difficult to make a bad sound on it. Tuning machines have been updated to Sloans and it has been refretted. The work was done by the great repairman Yuris Zeltins. This is a great instrument, Price is $20,000.
