  2. Drifter Continental DF 150 oakbrook Illinois made Korea
    Scott

I bought a 6 string acoustic guitar from a family member it has a gold thick label inside that says model number df 150 no serial number it says continental in the middle and underneath it says oak brook Illinois made in korea. I was just wondering if it is worth anything. I can’t find any information on this model it also says drifter on the head stock. I bought it as a gift for my boyfriend cause he wants to learn how to play. I can tell its old. But I know nothing about it. A few people have told me to put it up it worth a lot and to find him a cheaper one to start out on. Can anyone help me out here I’m lost on what I have purchased here. I need some information.

  3. Lombardi Vintage Guitar
    Anonymous

I have a very nice Lombardi Vintage guitar with f-holes. It was made in the summer of 1942. There are no cracks, warps or sign of wear, other than the original 1930’s rusted Gibson Strings on it. I also have two sets of NOS strings from the 30’s and the original case it cam in. I would like some help finding out the value of this gem. I am waiting on new tuner knobs to replace the ones missing. I sweat that this guitar was maybe played and put in the case over 60 years ago. It has to be worth something. Appreciate any help as nobody knows anything about this, yet everyone wants to see it. I will include a few photos….can’t figure out how to post pics here

  8. Value of Conn Drifter Guitar
    Matthew Lawton

We have a Conn Drifter 6-string acoustic, model DF130, Serial #6060264. The guitar is in average shape – one filled area on the body, no other holes or cracks. Neck is straight, frets good, bridge good, case good.
Any thoughts on current value will be appreciated!
    Thanks

    1. Re: S.Yairi 1977 value
      Tiger

I bought this very guitar yesterday from Guitar Center in Lynnwood WA. I too was watching it when priced @ ~ $1000. hey dropped it to 599, then 479, finally 399, at which point I applied a 15% coupon and took it home for $339. I have a 1968 Martin 0-16 New Yorker (the model for this Yairi) and they compare nicely. From now on the Martin stays home and the Yairi goes on the road 🙂

Any further details on S. Yairi or this model, the whole history thing, much appreciated. ..Cheers!

    2. Re: S.Yairi 1977 value
      gerard

      Hi Kyle,
A late response from down under. Methinks the YF-200 was originally worth around $200 yen. My reasons for this (1) Japanese guitar pricing during this period was reflected in the model numbering (eg. K. Yairi Model YW-1000 = 100,000 Yen, YW-800 = 80,000 Yen 7 (2) On speaking to guitar shops over the years (in ‘Stralia) they were sold for around $400 Aud.
Since then I’ve seen them for sale at around $600 aud and, recently 30,000 Yen.
      Did you buy it?
Do you want to sell it?
Where was it for sale if you didn’t.

Cheers & hope would would (after all this time) want to part with it (if you have it)!!!!!

I know, clutching a straws from down under.

: I recently found a 1977 S.Yairi fingerstyle guitar No.AY0089 Yairi Guitar No.726. It looks exactly like the older Martin "New Yorker" and is in mint condition. From what I have researched online it is the YF-200 series but I have no idea what the value is of this guitar. Does anyone know the value?

      : Thank You

      : -Kyle

Well it wasn’t worth $1k … it sat for that price for a year and now it is $500….

  9. guitar appraisal
    Lynda M.

I have a 1973 Garcia Classical 1A Concert Model which I bought new in 1976. I think that their company went out of business, and I have been trying to find out what my guitar is worth today. I bought it for $750.00 in 1976, and that was at 25% off. It has a wonderful tone quality. My son (who also plays) can’t wait to "inherit" it! How can I find out what it is worth today?

  12. Lero guitar
    Joshua Melney

Hi, I have a friend who’s dad has an old Lero guitar. It needs work because the tuning machines are stripped, and I’m guessing the neck needs some adjustment….plus there is only one string on it. It has a sunburst paintjob and a very retro looking pickguard, I heard that Lero is a very old Ibanez guitar, so it is not a pile of crap. It has a whammy bar, but my friend was playing with it one day and lost it somehow. I just can’t find info about lero so far, so any clues to where it came from would so rock my world. Neil’s dad doesn’t even know if the electronics still work, and he’s got no amp or cord, but I wanna try it out and see what it’s made of, besides wood.

I had a black Masada Les Paul model in the early 80’s. I bought it from a friend for $100. My mom was mad I bought it and made me return it. I think it was the best player I ever had, but I’ve never seen one since to play and see. I’m still looking though!: I have a Masada guitar that someone told me is like the Gibson hummingbird. I am also searching for information. I bought my Masada Telecaster copy back in the 80’s for about $20 from a graduating college student. Experts told my brother, who had it for several years, that in some ways it is actually better than the Fender it was copying. But I can’t find a word about a Masada brand on the Internet.

Same here . . . I’m in search of info, too. I recently got a Masada "Les Paul Custom" model violin-burst guitar for under two-bills, but no luck in finding any information on this line. Must be so rare (or esoteric) that not many folks own one. Heck, I’d like to know how many models and guitars were ever manufactured by Masada, let alone learning WHO "Masada" is/was! Consider ourselves "lucky" for owning such gems. Would like to learn more history on them if anyone out there knows?! I’m proud to have one of my own now . . . the craftsmanship was worth the expense.

Hope to find some good news on these someday!

I have a Masada guitar that I bought in 1974 at a guitar shop in Tuscaloosa Alabama. It is the Hummingbird look alike. It was made sometime around 72-74. The owner of the shop said that Masada made a line bluegrass guitars and violins and only made one line of acoustic like this. No other models were made. Mine is numbered 673. I too have searched for years to find out, but no one has any info on he internet.

I too am a proud owner of a mazada guitar..Mine is a 1978 master jazz bass.maple neck and maple body..I love it! its by far the best bass i have ever layed my fingers to..ive tried to upgrade several times in my life and i have never played a finer guitar. I play in two bands, usually 3 times a week for the past 20 yrs. I would never sell it, Its pricless as far as im concerned. my theory is that masada is a guys name that built it. Handcrafted in his garage. He might have built a couple hundred guitars over the yrs and is not alive anymore. It is a rare jewel for sure.

        Timothy

Just bought a Masada copy of a Gibson Dove in Minnesota – perfect shape and it plays super.

I have owned the almost identical guitar for 45 years but it did not have Masada on the head piece – almost identical to the one I just bought just no name.

Would like to correspond with someone that really need one of these guitars. I run into so many people that swoon over these guitars.

They must be really hard to find.

      2. Masada Hummingbird
        Gary

I had a Masada Hummingbird acoustic that I bought in Key West, FL around 1973 and traded in when I bought my Martin D18 in Hanford, CA around 1978. I remember it being a sweet playing guitar and loved the color and workmanship. In fact, I would buy it back today if it’s still around.

          Brian

Revisiting an old thread. I recently picked up a Masada ME-900 because it looked really interesting and I had never seen one. I bought if from the original owner and cleaned it up a bit, it does sound pretty amazing and the sustain is unbelievable.

Bad part, it’s a righty. I’m a lefty. I’ve been debating on whether to switch it over but now I think I want to find it a nice righty home.

Reverb had one listed a couple years ago for $250 with no case. I’d be looking for $250 with case + shipping (from RI).

      3. Masada Les Paul guitar
        recherchez

I have been looking for what I have for awhile. So far from what I can see from the headstock and body it matches up with what I am seeing in some of the Masada pictures. In any event this guitar is extremely well made, of the five or so guitars I own this is by far the best in the bunch. Workmanship is top notch, and plays like a dream. Black Les Paul style, would be nice to know for sure so will keep researching.

          Anonymous

          Hi

I’m listing one on E-bay today for sale. I had it for about 25 years. I bought it used from a Music store. It shows lovely BUT the top layer of wood is split. There are some smudges and surface scratches although the guitar has seen very little use since I’ve owned it. I’m just trying to find out what this guitar is worth in this condidtion before I list it on E-bay.

      4. Masada Hummingbird Guitar
        LBColosimo

I inherited my Masada Himmingbird when my grandfather died. May parents, aunts and uncles bought it for him in 1973 for Christmas. They purchased it for $175.00. I play mine very day and it is by far, the sweetest guitar I own and it has the BEST action of anything I own. It is not only a great instrument, it holds precious sentimental value.

  16. martin & Coupa guitar bought 1834 in NYC
    dale

Hello, I am doing an estate appraisal which includes a family heirloom guitar. Legend has it that this Martin&Coupa parlor guitar and case were bought in NYC by sea captain great, great,…? for his daughter on his way home with a boatload of whale oil. Label is clean and intact and the lower neck(inside) is stamped CF MARTIN. It’s the real deal! Elephant ivory pegs are now missing . The bridge and nut are ivory and original. Not many comparatives to look at for like sales. Currently NOT on the market and is likely to stay in the family. Can anyone recall a recent sale of such an instrument? Any/all info./feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Dale

  17. C.F. Martin &Coupa 1834 parlor guitar
    dale

Hi, I’m researching this instrument and it’s a beauty!. Family records place Sea captain arriving in NYC in 1834. He purchased the guitar and gave it to his daugter. Martin and Coupa label inside and C.F. Martin inside stamped into neck base. Elephant ivory pegs are now missing. strings are attached to a large ivory (bridge)? The nut at top of neck is also ivory. Some inlay around hole and edge of top and bottom. Original case, also. What’s she worth? Will appreciate any and all feedback Thanks, Dale

I have a six string accoustic guitar. I was told the kawai piano co. was the company that made Kimberly guitars. I have yet to find another like it. It is in good shape a few dings are on body, frets are not grooved. sounds sweet!

  22. S. Yairi guitar
    George

If it helps, I bought in Edinburgh, Scotland a Sadao Yairi guitar new in 1977 which I still have and play. It is a model 730 and cost me then about 180 British Pounds (say 300 USD at today’s exchange rate). I still have the catalogue showing the entire range at that time. The range was very similar to that of Martin, in fact my Yairi 730 is a dead ringer for a Martin D28. The sound gets better as it gets older

Looking for someone who can give me a worth on a Gibson Heritage. Do not know exact year but belived to be in 1960’s range. My mother has one and closest estimate was around 3k. Guitar is in almost new condition and sounds really great. She has owned it since she was a small child. Would really like to get a very close estimated price.

  28. Gretsch 6192 Country Club 1958/59/60? appraisal
    Joe Thomas

I have owned this guitar since 1982. The serial number and model number had been scratched out. The guitar is in beautiful shape. Here is what I know. It is Cadillac green, neoclassic(thumbnail) markers, grover keys, filtron pickups with "patent applied for" on face. Tone knobs have G with arrow through them and Bigsby tail piece with whammy(says patent no D 169120).I also know that in 1959 they started coming with the "zero fret", mine does not have that. Any educated thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
