These five new models revitalizes the company’s travel guitar line with new tonewood choices along with one that has built-in electronics. All five are part of their extensive 2015 acoustic lineup that cover various shapes and sizes.

Of particular interest are the three new Washburn Rover models that are built using exotic tonewoods. One of which is the RO10KK (around $330 RRP), featuring top, back and sides that were crafted from Koa. The result is a travel guitar with an elegant earthy appeal and a distinct voice that you can only expect on guitars with koa wood.

The all-spalted maple RO10SS (around $300 RRP) model follows the same design as the first one, albeit with an important distinction. The guitar is crafted from spalted maple, giving the guitar a nice vintage look that will not look out of place in an expensive guitar collection. It will also have its own brighter voicing because of the stiffness of maple.

The third exotic wood to be utilized in the Rover Series is zebrawood. The RO10ZZ (around $260 RRP) features all-zebrawood construction, which as the name implies features zebra-like stripe. This type of wood is used in making sturdy cabinets of the past, and gives this particular Rover model a furniture-like appeal that will complement your living room or office area. As expected, it will sound subtly different when compared to the typical spruce and mahogany travel guitars.

The three new models that utilize exotic wood come with a matching headstock to give them a consistent appearance.

The other two 2015 Washburn Rover models feature more conventional wood combinations. The Rover RO10RWC (around $290 RRP) features a solid cedar top with rosewood back and sides will be a great pick for those looking for warmer tones. Finally the Washburn added a built-in mic and endpin jack into the fifth new Rover model, dubbed RO10E (around $290.28 RRP). It comes with classic solid spruce top and mahogany for the back and sides.

Common features of the Rover models include a comfortable short scale length of 23.7″, 1.692″ nut width, mahogany neck with 19-fret rosewood fingerboard, cream multi-laminate binding and chrome open geared tuners. Washburn bundles each Rover travel guitar with a case that has a shoulder strap. Picks, guitar strap and an instructional CD is also included in the package.

All five new Washburn Rover Travel Guitars are now available, more information will soon be available at Washburn.
