The Epiphone “1961” SG Special Outfit is available in classic Alpine White, Ebony, Cherry, and 50s era TV Yellow. Finally, each “1961” SG Limited edition Special Outfit comes with a padded 1961 SG Model 50th Anniversary gig bag.

And to match vintage SGs, the Epiphone 1961 SG has a 12″ radius on a 24.75″ handset neck, a Rosewood fingerboard and a 1.68″ nut width for staying in tune during bends. It also sports Ivory Button Wilkinson Vintage 14:1 machine heads, and a 60’s style Epiphone logo on the headstock. Every detail of the Epiphone “1961” SG Special Outfit was carefully followed. The Alnico P-90T Soapbar bridge pickup and the Alnico P-90R Soapbar neck pickup carries both double and single coil sounds in one pickup. Back in the 60’s, the P90s were usually found on archtops, but surprisingly it worked well in solidbody guitars, which became a staple in Gibson SGs.

The epiphone limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg reissue is most certainly better than the gibson model by a country mile. Such professional quality and tone. It’s so 1961 whith a modern day punch there simply brilliant and classy Sg. I would never chose
the gibson model over this epiphone.
What BS these “reissues” are! It isn’t a 61 SG. It should be a 61 Les Paul. If it doesn’t have the sideways vibrato, it’s just an SG with the good looking pickguard shape.
Gibson puts theirs out with the lyre vibrato… STILL misses the point! (I may be the only man alive who actually liked the sideways whammy! I had a 61 Les Paul with that for awhile in around 1970… Sold it.. If I told you for how much I’d have to kill myself out of embarresment!!!)
Gibson’s are the most overpriced guitars on the planet, with PRS a close second. (IMHO, of course!)
I had a Gibson 1961 Les Paul SG just like this, wraparound barstop bridge, vibrato wasnt the sideways vibrato, those were on the Standards,
I loved the sound of the P-90’s. I dont like the three in a rill tuners but hey i can change those.
