Paul Landers Signature Les Paul from Gibson

Gibson teams up with the enigmatic metal guitarist from the popular European band Rammstein – to come up with the Paul Landers Signature Les Paul.

This guitar is a supercharged version of the Les Paul to meet the demands of Paul Landers and modern metal riff-meisters.

Landers is known for his heavy and fast metal fretwork, and as expected, his signature Les Paul takes the traditional simplistic rock elements of the Les Paul standard and upgrades it with metal tone and super-fast playability.

At the core of this hard hitting instrument is a traditional solid mahogany body with strategic weight relief design for convenient playing and resonance. The body is topped by a carved solid maple cap. It features a glued-in solid mahogany neck that is quarter sawn for improved playability, bearing a ’50s profile and topped with dark obeche fingerboard. The neck also features a PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian. The body and neck is finished in hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer Satin Ebony to complete the dark metal look.

The edges of the body is wrapped in a silver binding that contrasts the black finish. The headstock has a silver silkscreened “Les Paul Model” logo instead of the usual gold to match the said silver bindings. The guitar maintains its minimalist approach with its absence of fingerboard inlays and pickguard.

Aside from the looks, Lander’s choice of electronics and hardware set his signature Les Paul apart from the regulars. The Paul Landers Signature Les Paul is equipped with active EMG pickups – a silver covered EMG 60 in the neck position and an EMG 81 in the bridge position. These are Paul’s preferred pickups which are meant to provide you with top level crunch and lead tones while staying resistant to noise. These electronics are controlled by a humble three-way pickup selector along with a simplistic volume control knob that is moved further up and forward for better accessibility when doing volume swells. Other hardware include chrome TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece and a set of locking chrome Grover tuners.
