Caparison CL15 Custom Line 2015

Caparison Guitars bring back their double-cutaway Angelus guitar as the Ltd. Ed. hand-crafted Custom Line 2015 (CL15).

Caparison CL15 Custom Line 2015

This guitar comes with premium wood and is equipped with special electronics that allow for a myriad of tones that go beyond conventional HH configuration guitars.

Caparison is a Japan-based company that builds “boutique” style guitars, established in 1995 by people that were once part of Jackson/Charvel Japan’s design division. I would describe the aesthetics of their instruments as a hybrid between PRS and Jackson, and it is said that their instruments have Ibanez like shred-friendly playability.

The new CL15 follows the “boutique” design and build quality that the company has been known for, and it’s main feature being the great looking, hand-selected Flamed Maple carved top that are wrapped in either of the two available finishes, Violin or Lemon Drop.

The arched flamed maple top is joined with the mahogany back, both of which form the double cutaway body with increased cutaway at the lower cutaway for better upper fret access.

The set-in neck is carved from mahogany and topped by an ebony fretboard. While the body follows the super strat shape, the guitar’s short scale length falls between Gibson and PRS, measured at 24.75″. Other features of the neck include a Graph Tech Black Tusq nut that is 1.65″ wide, 24 jumbo frets, angled “Angelus” headstock shape with Custom Logo. Ivory fingerboard binding and distinct oval inlays add premium aesthetics to the guitar.

The company says, “The CL15 is designed to give you that wonderfully familiar vintage classic feel but, with the unique playing experience that you only get with a Caparison. With all the versatility, quality, tonality and superb playing comfort that has come to be expected of Caparison Custom Line Models.

The new Custom Line 2015 comes equipped with two of their own Caparison design humbucker pickups. This seemingly straightforward configuration is wired to a special pickup switching system that utilizes a 3-way pickup switch and 2 mini-switches. These switches allows for coil-splitting, resulting in a wide variety of pickup configurations to choose from. Wrapping the controls include independent volume knobs for the two pickups.

Other hardware include Gotoh GE-103B-T bridge, Gotoh GE101Z-T tailpiece and Gotoh SG301-01 MG-T tuning machines. Finally the guitar comes bundled with a Reunion Blues Continental Case.

As expected, this special guitar commands a premium price tag of just under $4500. For more information and other details, head over to Caparison Guitars.
