Gibson’s 50th Anniversary line unveiled

Looks like Gibson's Custom Shop brand is apparently releasing its 50th Anniversary line. The line includes the Korina Explorer, ES-335, LP Figured – Aged and the Kornia Plying V. At the moment the information on the site doesnt include the pricing or availability. It seems that these arent reissue models but they do include some of the features that made these models a huge sucess back in 1958.

The first group (with the Explorer and the Fying V) share korina body and neck, rounded neck profile, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 24.75″ scale length, ABR-1 bridge, BurstBucker 1 and 2 humbucker pickups, 3-way pickup switch and 2 volume 1 tone controls. While the specific features of the 2008 ‘58 Explorer Guitar are solid body and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece; and the specific features of the 2008 ‘58 Flying V Guitar are 2-pieces body and string-through-body tailpiece.

The shared features of the second group are maple top, 1-piece mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 24.75″ scale length, 3-way pickup switch and 2 volume and 2 tone controls. The specific features of the 2008 ‘58 ES-335 Guitar are maple body with laminated top, 1959 rounded neck profile and 2 ‘57 classic humbucker pickups; but the features of the 2008 ‘58 Les Paul are solid mahogany back, carved figured top, long neck tenon, ’50s rounded neck profile, BurstBucker 1 and 2 humbucker pickups and CTS pots and bee capacitators.
