Michael Kelly Patriot Striped Ebony Guitar

Michael Kelly Guitars introduces the Patriot Striped Ebony, a limited run guitar with a distinct looking top.

Michael Kelly Patriot Striped Ebony

This guitar is part of the company’s Custom Collection, which is a special line of short-run instruments that feature special woods, inlays and hard-to-create specialty colors.

The most notable feature of this guitar is the striped ebony top, which gives the instrument a distinct appearance. The availability of this guitar will depend on the accessibility of the special top, and as such it is only slated for limited release.

And since this is not a production line instrument, each release will be slightly different, including the stripe patterns on the ebony top. This makes each Patriot Striped Ebony guitar a true one-of-a-kind instrument that can be used as is, or personalized even further..

Underneath the special striped ebony top is the stereotypical mahogany body carved into a modern single cutaway shape. A five-ply white-black binding is implemented on the top while the top is finished in elegant gloss to let the ebony stripes shine through.

The guitar has a mahogany set neck following modern builds, and is topped by a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. True to its LP style body, the guitar has a scale length of 24.75″, but the playing feel is expected to be more on the modern side with its 12″ fingerboard radius. Other neck features include synthetic graphite nut that is 1 11/16″ wide, single ply white binding, double-adjustable truss rod, pearl inlays, and a 3-per-side headstock.

The Patriot Striped Ebony is equipped with dual humbuckers called MK-PAF-Plus, which as the name implies, produces vintage humbucker tones. The pickups are connected to Michael Kelly’s “Great 8” boutique wiring mode that expands the possible tones you can get out of the guitar. It features a 3-way pickup selector and a double push/pull coil-tap on the tone knobs for switching tones, while the volume knobs function like a traditional LP style guitar.

Other features include a string-thru body design for improved resonance and structural stability, along with a tune-o-matic style bridge. All the metal hardware are chrome finished to match the overall earthy appeal of the instrument.

What’s even more surprising about the Patriot Striped Ebony is its price, at just under $500, which is quite affordable for a one-of-a-kind limited run instrument. For more information and other details, you can head over to Michael Kelly Guitars.
