Line 6 Pod HD v2.0 Firmware Update
Line 6 recently updated the Pod HD firmware to v2.0, this dramatically expands the sonic palette of Pod HD, Pod HD Pro and Pod HD500.
The update introduces new HD amp models for both guitars and bass and better integration with James Tyler Variax guitars.
The Pod HD series is getting more popular and I've been seeing more and more guitar players tour with Line 6 modeling gear. This new update will make Line 6 modeling gear even more flexible - a viable alternative and sturdy setup in situations where you don't have or can't bring expensive and sensitive gear.
The first HD bass amp model is introduced in this update, labeled Flip top which is based on an Ampeg B-15NF Portaflex. This new HD amp model mimics the popular studio bass amp's behavior. It comes with a modeled cab with a 15-inch speaker emulation to produce impressive thump.
Eight new mic choices are added to match the new Flip Top HD Bass amp model, they are based on - Shure SM57, Sennheiser 421, AKG D12, AKG D112, EV RE20, Shure SM7B, Heil PR40 and Neumann U47.
Two HD guitar amp models are also introduced - Plexi Lead NRM and Plexi Lead BRT. These amp models are based the Normal and Bright input channels of the iconic Marshall "Plexi" 1959 Super Lead 100-watt head. Finally, you have classic English crunch tone to play around with.
A vintage-voiced tube mic preamp based on the Requisite Y7 is also introduced. The "Vintage" HD Mic Preamp model gives you warm vocal sounds which you can also apply to guitar or bass. The controls include HPF, LPF, Phase, Gain and Output.
Improved integration with Variax guitars were also added in. You can now use the knobs on your Variax guitars as expression pedals, you can also adjust the control behavior and input selections. Custom tuning for your Variax is also supported by your Pod HD Presets.
Other enhancements and improvements are also included which makes configuring easier and improve analog tube topology. The Pod HD v2.0 firmware update is available for POD HD500, POD HD, and POD HD Pro. Users of POD HD300 and POD HD400 will have to wait a bit more for their v2.0 firmware.
