Seymour Duncan introduces the new Forza Overdrive effects pedal, launched exclusively at Chicago Music Exchange.

This new overdrive pedal was developed by the two companies, and as such it will only be available from the said retailer during launch period, which will start this coming May, and end on August.

The Forza features a glass diode with back-to-back stack overdrive circuit. The resulting sound is described by the company as full-range and transparent, allowing more of the natural voice of your guitar to pass through. It has
This is in contrast to how many overdrive pedals emphasize certain frequencies, specifically the mids. Forza is designed to give you a flatter even spread across the frequency range.

This flat response design makes the voicing open and viable for many types of rigs, be it through a clean channel or for driving an already-overdriven amp. The pedal will also work with any type of guitar configuration, including single coils, hubuckers, and even active pickups.

Seymour Duncan SVP of Products and CRO Max Gutnik said, “We are very excited to work with Chicago Music Exchange to bring this to market as an exclusive launch. They have been a wonderful partner to us over the years. Forza is beautifully-voiced overdrive designed to deliver an open, even-tone that enhances the sound of your amp without changing its fundamental character.”

The pedal has two main red knobs that let you controls the output level and gain setting (up to 37dB) of the overdrive effect. Tweaking the two knobs give you a variety of tone, from classic edge of breakup to late ’70s hard rock and more. The Level knob can even be maxed so you can use the pedal as a pseudo boost effect. Because the frequency range is wider, the mids are described as not being as boxy as other pedals, with enough highs and lows and a slightly scooped midrange.

Speaking of frequencies, the pedal comes with three small 3-band EQ knobs that let you adjust the highs, mids and lows. This allows for more personalization, ideal for matching the effect to the voice of your guitar, amp or rig. It can even be used to reproduce old school mid-range heavy overdrives should you want it. Whether you want to add more sustain to your overdriven tone, or you want to use it as your main dirt pedal, the Forza Overdrive is meant for both.

It is a total success.”
