This expands AmpliTube’s lineup of virtual amplifiers, giving users the option to use Mesa/Boogie approved models of their high-gain amps and cabinets.

Mesa/Boogie is known as one of the pioneers of high-gain amp, made popular by the longer sustain that the Mark I Boogie can produce. The company was able to achieve this by cascading tube preamps, which by then was not as common as it is today. Up to this day, they follow the same concept albeit with modern enhancements and improvements.

If you’re not familiar with Mesa/Boogie, then these ’70s era artists should help you remember: Carlos Santana, Pete Townshend, Keith Richards, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Grateful Dead and many more. Their modern “scooped” tone was heard on many radio hits in the ’90s, including songs by Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin’ Park, Creed and others.

Not one to shy away from technological advancements, Mesa/Boogie has teamed up with IK Multimedia to recreate their popular amps and cabs in digital model formats, which is a first for the company.

Included in this release are classic Boogie crunch rhythm and singing lead tones, modeled after the Mark III and Mark IV Series amps, EQ’ed to the V-Curve setting that the company also helped popularize. The modern gain and crunch of Dual and Triple Rectifier amps were also digitized into an amp model preset. While the EL84-equipped TransAtlantic TA-30 is also modeled to provide a British-voiced alternative to the standard Boogie tone.

By switching between the amps and tweaking their parameters, you can go from clean to percussive crunch and Brit style mid-gain tones to violin like lead tones. Here is what the official press release says, “This first-ever officially authorized by MESA line-up includes the classic Boogie V-Curve EQ’d crunch rhythm and singing lead voice of both the MARK III and MARK IV Series as well as what many refer to as the biggest sound in Rock, the crushing gain of the Dual and Triple Rectifiers – these are amps that have ruled the airwaves for almost two decades. As an added bonus, the TransAtlantic TA-30 (MESA’s upscale tribute to the classic British EL84 legacy) is included as well. It roams the elusive pushed clean and medium gain territories with both finesse and attitude.”

To get the sound right, AmpliTube worked with the R&D team at Mesa Engineering, meticulously working and re-working the details until they get the amp builder’s approval. Even the front and back panel controls are fully replicated to give you as response and control that is as close to the physical version as possible. The addition of Mesa/Boogie further expands the already vast library of official authorized virtual guitar gear that IK Multimedia has to offer.

You can now preorder the upcoming AmpliTube Mesa/Boogie amp and cab models, with a special launch price of just $99.99. It is scheduled for release on September with a regular price of $150. For more information, you can head over to IK Multimedia.
