        I have a 1964 Gibson Thunderbird
with two mic´s. # 160033. Bought it new in 1964, used it to 1970 when I stopped playing,
I stoved it away in the hadrcase (as new) in 1970 and just found it the other day. It was in sunburst, but the laquer started to peel of so I grinded the rest in 1970. What could it be worth?

Hi Nico, I just got my 1962 Fender Jazzmaster reissue from Musician`sFriend.com and it looks and plays like my original `63 & `64 Jazzmasters I`ve owned in the past.
However, the price is rather high, $1,369.99 for the 3 tone sunburst i ordered, but it definitely is worth it.
They claim to have the lowest prices around. If your girlfriend has the time while in New York, she might want to call The House of Guitars. It`s located in Rochester, NY.
Sorry, I don`t have the phone number, but it`s located on
        Titus Ave.

        Good luck!

The Yamaha FG-360 was manufactured 1972-1974 only. Some were luthier signed models, some standard production. Yamaha suggested list price was $365.00 in 1972. Solid spruce top, ebony fingerboard, very nice sounding instrument! I just picked one up at a flea market a few weeks back…great sounding acoustic axe!

Everyone who’s played my old Yamaha FG-360 since I bought it used at Central Music, Brockton, MA in 1980 for $200, from an owner who looked me in the eye and said with conviction, "This is a really nice guitar, especially for the price", has remarked on how beautifully it sounded and played, often adding "especially for a Yamaha". I’ve had the neck straightened once; new gear heads, bridge and were saddle installed a few years back, and it’s better than ever.

My guitar has the lutenist’s mark, MK, stamped inside, with the right vertical of the M faded, making it at first look like N.

Recently, looking for a serial number, I found, inside on the block of wood at the base of the sound box, a hand written number – 64 – apparently written in black felt-tipped marker. So, if anyone who has an FG-360 wants to know where the serial number is, point a flashlight inside at the base of the body.

So, to Yamaha lutenist MK-san, wherever you are, you are a master craftsman. Your #64 FG-360 is still in good service at about age 30, and I’ve played it happily for 23 years.

If anyone finds out the identity of MK, Japanese lutenist who made the FG-360, drop me a line at [email protected]

FG360 were made between 1973-1975 and retailed new for $376.00 USA$$$
              Spruce top

AROUND 1978 I PURCHASED A YAMAHA 6-STRING ACCOUSTIC GUITAR. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU KNEW IF THERE IS ANY VALUE TO THIS GUITAR? THE GUITAR IS IS SHOWROOM CONDITION. IF NOT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE THE MIGHT KNOW. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE. WHITEY.

Thank you for this info. I was looking for the serial number and you lead me in the right direction! I have #63! so we are one after another on the production line!
I am looking forward to learning more!

      2. Bought new around 1975 in Tallahassee Fl. Always thought it had a great sound and wonderful fingering. Still a beautiful guitar. The low E strong now has a bit of a muffled sound–don’t know what that’s all about. I wonder if there is an adjustment to make to render it clear. But overall a great instrument. Always thought it was just another nice guitar. When I think about replacing with a Martin or Taylor, can’t find anything I like as well–at least for a decent price. Gonna get a pick up for it some day.
