  2. Mod 6 Schematic Needed
    ShadesMcP

Well, I know. The title of the post is rather self explanatory yes. But I was cleaning my MOD 6, and I took the pick guard off. For some ungodly reason it was glued to the body and pulled off some paint. So now I have to give it a whole new paintjob. But first, I need to remove the pick ups from the circuit and I don’t want to rewire it wrong. Anyone who can help, email me. OH! And I was thinking of replacing the standard lipsticks to the "Vintage" aged magnet pickups. Anyone here know which is better? Again, email me with a response. Thanks.

  4. Innuendo 12-Strings Effects
    Dan L.

Hi, I just got an Innuendo 12-Strings and overall I am pleased.
However the effects do not seem to work, except for distortion.
1.) How pronounced should these effects be? Any idea anybody?
2.) Where could I get a schematic of the electronics inside?
    3.) Where could I get a 7-way pick-up switch?

    Any help would be appreciated…

Does anyone know where I can purchase this instrument, other than direct from Danelectro? I refuse to pay mfgrs. suggested retail price when I’ve seen it for as low as $149.99 on the internet, although it never seems to be available (Usually discontinued). Any info is appreciated.

  6. Innuendo volume knob help
    Gilby Deviant

I recently purchased a new Innuendo. Overall, I think it’s a great guitar, the only realy problem I have with it is that the volume knob sits right next to the bridge pickup. Whenever I palm mute (which is essential to my playing) I find myself turning myself down. Can anyone think of a rememdy for this? I’ve been playing for a long time, but don’t know much about fixing things. Someone told me I could get a push/pull pot and set it to where I’d have to push on the knob to turn it up or down. Anyone recommend this or anything else? Thanks in advance.

You can reverse the wires on the volume pot, the control will work backwards, and you’ll be less likely to turn it down. I hate the location too, and just pulled the knob off…it does help me. I may soon reverse the wires. Good luck!

  7. Set-up of a danelectro U-2?????
    Coll Thomson

Hi folks, I would really like to find out how to set up a danelectro. I’ve just recently discovered this beautiful guitar, but I have NO idea how to set it up properly. My own dan-o has no truss rod adjustment that I am used to, but it has LOTS of screws on the back of the body. I would like someone to give me the basics on the set-up. I have a "reasonable" knowledge (I went to college and learned) of fender and gibson "set-up", but I can’t figure out (yes I AM as thick as pig shit) how to set up my danelectro. Obviously this is a MAJOR pain in the butt, ‘cos my Dan-o is my favourite guitar, but the intonation is out, and I’ve got a major step-up in volume between strings that I don’t think I should have.
I have NEVER encountered another guitar whose sound could make me orgasm, so I would obviously like to find out how to set it up in a professional manner. (I should relate that my friend, who is a guitar tech, states that you either get a good or crap Dan-o, no set-up could EVER help. Please help me prove him wrong!!!)
Anyway, lots of love , COLL …

  8. 12 string 2 p/up cutaway
    Alan

Does anyone know where I might get one of these. I’ve been waiting months for my local dealer (Ivor Mairants, London) to get one in – now they tell me that’s it because they’re discontinuing them!

The Hodad 3 p/up is a bit too much for me, but the 2 p/up seems to get better reviews anyway.

  10. Danelectro Innuendo
    fred

I just purchased an Innuendo. The color is Limo Black and the overall quality is very good. It is heavy, a little over 7 lbs
but for the price it can’t be beat.
It frets very well and I haven’t experienced too much fret buzz as
mentioned by others, ( I changed to flat wound strings). With the effects (echo, tremolo, chorus, distortion) and a 5 way selection switch the variance in tone should please anyone.
The neck is adjustable, but you have to remove it from the body. The vibrato arm is too high for comfortable use and the volume control I find can easily be bumped by mistake driving the volume up or down.
Overall, I am very pleased. With proper dealer setup to your style of picking you won’t be disappointed. Don’t fall into the trap of comparing it to this or that, try it out and judge it on its own merits. Danelectro has done a find job on this one!

  15. U2 tone controls
    Blake

I just purchased a left handed 56 U2. The guitar is great but the tone controls are essentialy on/off – all treble or muddy bass, nothing in the middle. Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a fix? On Harmony Central someone wrote that this is a problem only with the leftys. Can anyone comment on that?

    1. Re: U2 tone controls

I just bought a lefty 56-U2 Lefty last week and was surprised by the exact same thing. Here’s a place that can help.

      http://www.fatdawg.com/

Mail your Dano to Fatdog, and he’ll take care of it. Remember, the soul of a Danelectro is in the quasi-solid masonite body and the lipstick pickups. The rest can be tweeked to a higher level of of tone than comes of their factory in Korea.
      Good luck,

  23. baritone/6 string double neck
    Ronnie Qualls

I wanted a double neck 6 string/4 string regular bass but could not find one that was reasonable. The local Guitar Center is closing out all their Danelectro products. I purchased a double neck baritone bass/6 string bass and a longhorn bass. I switchhed the nut and bridge from the longhorn onto the baritone and added to additional tuners to the longhorn. Now I have a bass/6 string double neck and either a longhorn baritone or a longhorn 6 string! They all sound great! I play them through a Peavey 100watt keyboard amp (15 and a horn) with a Fender DSP Satellite for effects and a Gibson Maestro distortion pedal.
Let me know what you think.

As I have explained on one of these forums, I at this time have 5 custom made 6-4 mode double
necks, with the guitar on top, and the bass on the bottom, in the Stan & Dan Style. And this enables
me to simultaneously play , Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Slide Guitar, as well as do the
vocals, and am now regarded as the only one that has been known to do this, anyway I know that I’m

  25. My new Danelectros
    Martin Neff

In the last 30 days, I have purchased 2 new Danelectro Guitars, and a HoneyTone Amp. Super impressed. The guitars are a Hearsay, and a Hodad Baritone. Quality on both are excellent. Set up from the factory was dynamite, Sound and playability are top notch. I have a working band and these 2 guitars are great. My Fenders have stayed in their cases. I love the Hearsay better than my Strat that cost 4 times as much.

    1. Re: New Danelectros
      Denny

Martin, Glad you discovered Danos; Sounds like you’re hooked like a bunch of pickers have been for a long time ! Just wait ’til you play a DC3 if you havn’t …especially if you like the Strat middle pickup tones on call …you will come unglued at the incredible tone variety, and liveliness of the guitar when it gets a good whif of amp speaker volume. When you throw the toggle switch to "turbo drive", all 3 pickups come on wired in humbucking series and provide boosted tone that reaches to the moon. I have been playing on stage for 42 years, and have about 60 great guitars of my own to choose from; But nothing comes close to the Danelectros for incredible tones no matter what kind of music style I’m playing …from banshee rock to warm jazz. I wore out the frets on my Silvertone 1457 and have been playing a new 59DC for a couple of years. Excellent craftmanship …set up perfect right out of the box (although I reset the pickups right up next to the strings from experience with Danos) …INCREDIBLE tone. Nothing else even comes close. And the humbucking lipstick pickup configuration Hodads are everything any dual coil guitar could ever wish to be and more.

: I could use some information about my axe and which amps will make my baby sing like she wants to.

Try a Fender Acoustasonic Jr. and see what you think. I like the sound of my 12-string (2-pickup model) going through the Acoustasonic Jr; sounds just like something from the Byrds. Put Chorus rate, depth and reverb all on ‘3’; bass and midrange on ‘5’; treble on about ‘5’ to ‘7’. WARNING: The Amp is rather weak — I think it only does about 20 watts per channel (it’s stereo chorus). So don’t expect a rockin’ monster sound; just a real pretty sound.

      Hi:
The regular 59 DC has a accoustic style bridge. All of the 59 DC Pro models I’ve seen or played have strings that load from the rear of the guitar, plus individual saddles that adjust for height and intoneation.
The DC is a nice axe

Oh I forgot to explain my reasons. I at this time have 5 custom double necks, that are in the same 6-4
