Hi,
Just a wee bit of background about myself I am
29, and have been playing guitar/bass for 15 years .
Throughout the years I have had Gibsons, Fenders,
Rickies, Yamahas, Ibanez, Washburns etc… and was
generally very happy with what I had at that time. I
then discovered B.C. Rich guitars and was hooked.
They beat every competitor in every dep., build
quality, sound, variety of woods, pickups etc, support
was fantastic and so on. I then began to collect more
B.C. Rich’s and haven’t been disappointed with any of
them.

I just purchased a B.C. Rich "Calibre" Warlock. There are only 12 that made it to this country and the twelfth one came shipped broken and had to be shipped back to Czechoslovakia. I have serial number 75000011. I do not know where the other 10 are. but number 11 is in Pennsylvania. the guitar is a screemer with the "Rockfield Mafia" pick-ups and the new style "Floyd Rose" bridge and the neck through constrution. I also have an American Made NJ series Warlock which I am working on trying to get dated.. serial # "B 4623" that is on the neck plate that also says " B.C. Rich LA California USA".. it has all gold hardware ie: knobs, switch "Flyer" tortion bar bridge, locking nut, and tuning machines the color is metal flake red (original) maple neck w/ a rosewood fretboard.
Which year was made?
I have a BC Rich Warlock Bass, NJ Series which I purchased used in 1991. It is pearl white, 24 frets with diamond inlays. The serial # is 19666. I am looking for any information regarding age, original cost, replacement cost or any other details that anyone may have.
Did u Ebert find out what year your Warlock was I bought one in early 90s and serial number is 10182 I’m guessing it’s an 82

: Anyone have info on bc rich model #bw4000cb ? It’s an acoustic, very dark brown fading to black on edges in immaculate condition, possibly vintage.
I own the same guitar I bought it in 1988 and it was old then don’t really know the true age but it has been through hell and back and it still sound great and plays great…same colour by the way mine is blackish brown fading to black on the edge to a white trim with beigeish sound hole trim…
Hey there… I noticed some posts back in 2005 about that guitar.. I just acquired the exact model that you have.. get any info? how much did you pay for it? any idea what it is worth??
Cheers
I Just got the bw4000 no serial, mine is blue fading to black, great sound and butter smooth, but can anyone tell me more. I do have the made in korea sticker on the headstock
Anyone have info on bc rich model #bw4000cb ? It’s an acoustic, very dark brown fading to black on edges in immaculate condition, possibly vintage.
BC Rich BW 4000 CB, Serial No. 9310075 Black, mother of pearl diamond shaped inlay on fret board, Rosette multi stripe and herringbone stripe on back. Anybody have information about this guitar, can’t find any kind of information whatsoever!
It is black and has no serial number. Got it in 1970’s and it was not new then. I have no idea when it was made or how much it might be worth. My daughter is learning to play it. Everyone who sees it says that it is worth a lot of money. I don’t want sell it but it would be nice just to know how old it really is and what it might be worth.
I also have a Bc Rich with the model number BW – 4000 CB with no serial number it’s black with tiger stripe inlay in great shape a few scuffs and scratches I was wondering how much it’s worth, it plays fantastic I wouldn’t part with but have no info on it can anybody help
I have a BC Rico guitar that is made out of one solid piece of wood. It is two toned and the serial # is R1714. Can anyone help me find the value of this guitar?
Its a Platinum Series with an older style bridge, blood red, gold hardware, all original except for the inside of the bridge (the pot metal) broke and I machined a duplicate from aluminum, gives it a much better sound by the way, serial number is 22920. Just wandering if anyone could help me with any info on this guitar as I was told it is one of the first virgins they produced. Thanks!
The numbers only serial.. 22920… sounds like it was a 2002 year production.. The quextion I have for you is.." Is it a "BOLT ON" neck or "Neck THRU" and if it is a bolt on Neck.. does the neck plate have anything written on it or is it blank?
The Virgin was Designed By Neal Moser as a favor for Randy Waltuch, owner of Class Axe,they owned B.C.Rich from 1989 to 1993,I believe the Virgin came into existence in 1993
Its probably between ’89 and ’93 because after that Bernie took back over from Class Axe and i dont think they made Virgins for a number of years after. I have a Virgin with yellow/black crackle and a serial number 23xxx If somebody happened to know what the serial number was on the first virgins, for example 22xxx was the first in ’89 or something, then we would know. But we really cant tell since that information is not documented
Trying to ID my old Warlock. I am the original owner but was a kid when I bought it in the mid 80’s. I am not familiar with this type of serial number from BC Rich.\n\nSerial number: U0997
It would help if you answered your emails-I know exactly what this guitar is
Lorne:-)

Serial number is F209xxxx. It is a platinum series, flat top, black with white binding. There are no inlays on the fretboard, no nut lock, and an unidentifiable trem system. I’m mostly curious as to an average production date and general stats. I’ve not been able to find another like it anywhere online. I have, however seen the same trem setup on one or two. It looks like a cross between a Mick Thomson and a Revenge series.
about a year ago i bought a used platinum warlock but i have no idea how old it is and its driving me crazy. the headstock is the shape of what you would see on a modern bronze series but it has the b.c. rich logo and says "platinum series" under it. the chrome plate where the neck and body meet has the b.c. rich logo, then under that it has the serial number 609229, then under that it says "LA California" and under that "U.S.A." the pickups have the b.c. rich logo on them so im guessing they are stock and theres 2 volume, 1 tone, and one 3way selector. ive tried searching but i couldnt find anything with a serial number like this and almost nothing on platinum warlocks w/o a widow headstock. appreciate any help!

change one string at a time

I am also trying to determine a value for an ST-III model. I believe it is late 80’s. BC Rich logo and "made in USA" on headstock. Active EMG pickups, H/S/S and a Floyd Rose trem. The is no neck plate and no heel. The neck joint is smooth. Color is cherry red (all over, except the front of the headstock, which is black) with black hardware. Possible mod, has two knobs, volume and tone; total of four switches (One for each pickup and one master).\n\nAny thoughts?\n\nThanks.

: Hey I’m sure this has already been answered before but
: I’d just like to clarify. I’m on the verge of purchasing an ST III BC Rich w/ snake skin finish and was wondering what the value of it could be? It is stamped made in U.S.A on the headstock. It has the standard pickup setup for one of these guitars. It has some bad finish wear on the back (can be fixed) but the front it clean. I just want to make sure I’m not getting ripped off – The seller is looking to collect 350-400 for it.
: Thanks
yea thats a good deal I bought one with a cracke paintjob used for 425 just today so you’re getting a good deal.
I paid $400 for mine (from a friend who found it in his attack). There is not a mark on the finish. I put about $400 in it (pick-ups, tuners etc…). I have been offered over $1500 for it now.

i bought mine used from a kid in jersey. sounds the same except on the head under bc rich it says "platinum series".has phase out switch, also has floyd rose tremolo.body seems to be a composite, not wood.said he bought it at sam ash when it was new, about 5 years ago for $399.plays like a friggin monster, great growl. good luck.

This popular thread has been given its own page : BC Rico Eagle bass
IT’S THE ORIGINAL "NJ SERIES" GUITARS THAT WERE PRODUCED IN JAPAN IN 1980 I BELIEVE, MAYBE OFF A YEAR OR TWO. IF IT SAYS BC RICO ON HEADSTOCK AND ONLY BC RICO, ONLY ABOUT 200 OF THOSE GUITARS MADE IT INTO THE COUNTRY BEFORE BERNIE RICO SR., FOUNDER OF BC RICH GUITARAS, WAS SUED BY RICO REEDS OVER THE USE OF THE NAME "RICO". HENCE THE NAME CHANGE TO NJ SERIES, WHICH ARE THE INITIALS OF THE CITY IN JAPAN WHICH THEY FIRST WERE BEING PRODUCED, NOT THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. LOOK ON LINE FOR INFO THAT’S WHERE I LEARNED.
All of the aforementioned info is fairly accurate, except the “200 made it into the country” aspect. From those in the know ( working at BCR at the time) there were reported to be multiple shipping containers packed full with instruments from that initial run….so while an exact number isn’t known a container holds about 600…so a realistic number can easily be in the thousands.
They were decent instruments for the money ( remember they are essentially a japanese copy, albeit one sanctioned by the factory) although the shapes of the bodies did not exactly match their handmade USA counterparts and they were extremely basic, much like a beginners model.
Max price for a superior condition Rico Eagle bass w. OHSC would go about $600…maybe $700 for a Wave Bass because they are more rare, and thats superior only.
They are routinely picked up in the $200-$400 dollar range depending on the condition. As they get older many are starting to show signs of wing separation issues…which is a pain to fix properly, so watch out for this.
I own several and they are neat to go out and gig with if you dont want to take your $2500 handmade axe out to a rat hole venue with a tiny stage where it might get banged up….lol. As a BCR bass collector i’m always looking for more of these, and different colors. Anyone looking to sell hit me up… [email protected]
The old, “they are not worth much” but i’ll buy all that you have”. wink, wink, nudge, nudge lol
Like some others I have seen on this page, I am looking for info on a bass I bought a couple yrs ago. It is a BC Rico Eagle SN 1881 with OHSC. The finish is a natural, dark wood tone, and looks like it has been kept in the case. Neck-thru design with 2 P-Bass style pickups. Any idea of the year or potential value? I have been trying to locate a guitar blue book without having to buy one, but have had no luck. Thanks.
I believe I have the prototype BC Rico Eagle prototype. Always loved it.
Well I am looking for a decently priced Stealth or Ironbird, PREFERABLY black but will consider all colors, reverse headstock also preferred but I just want an Ironbird or Stealth so if its not reverse or black i am not going to pitch a fit
I have an American made Mockingbird that I beleave pre-dates the 80’s. It has no sign of an serial #. Can anyone tell me what year it is?
IF IT HAS NO SERIAL#, ITS NOT US MADE. ALL US MADE BC RICH GUITARS OF THIS TIME PERIOD HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS STAMPED ON THE TOP BACK OF HEADSTOCK. IS IT A NECKTHROUGH? WHAT IS ON THE HEADSTOCK? KAHLER TREM OR NOT?
I’m listing my neck-through NJ Wave on Ebay. The auction should be up Friday, April 27, at 6pm Pacific time. Take a look and tell a friend! Thanks!
Sorry, it’s auction # 250109347976 – I’ll post a link as soon as the auction is workng.

Is yours signed also? I saw a Warlock with the red snakeskin signed by Lita Ford for sale online and it was a platinum series also.
Are these Class Axe BCs? Does anyone know about the gold neck plates and weird 4 digit numbers? Early Class Axe maybe? Hopefully someone out there knows more about these guitars.
I hooked mine up to my Boss DS-1 pedal into a 1959 Harmony H400 Tube Amp and it screams!

I just bought an Ironbird NJ Series with the serial number B5967, the seller says it was made in the early 1980s. I know the Ironbird was first made in 1983 but I’d like to know when this was made and any other info, it is claimed to be Japanese made, it has dual pickups (probably DiMarzio), three knobs and the tone switch, tremolo arm, NJ Series printed on the neck, and the 4 digit serial I rarely see. Any idea on value would also be appreciated.

guitars ..much like anything else are worth whatever someone is willing to pay you. life is harsh when it comes to re-sale. chances are if your asking its worth…you basically want to sell it. buyers are cheap, and looking for deals…so figure out what did you pay….then knock off 60% of that. a typical pawn shop will offer you 33% of what it was new and the price will drop based on condition. ebay is a good source to "price" things by. find one like yours….see what it sells for. base your price by the condition. if you have a koa or korina wood, or any "good" guitar…you may get a nice price…but dont bet on it. bottom line…be happy with what you have. or sell it at a loss and move on.

Just wondering what this guitar might be worth, and what year it was made. I believe it’s an 80’s era Ironird. Its got the big "R" on the headstock, all tuners on one side, Kahler tremelo, and a "metal and rivets" paint job, with the initials "SL" painted on the back of the guitar, 1 bridge pickup (EMG), and serial number "0388.
Its a killer guitar with a great sound, perfect action. Any info would be appreciated, please send me an email, and thanks!

I have a BC Rico wave and have had a lot of trouble getting information on it. Its serial number is K1666. If anyone can tell me anything about it, such as production year and value, I would appreciate it. Thanks
This is the real deal! You cant find this version anywhere else, trust me I’ve looked all over the net! This is the one that has "HATE" spelled out on the first four frets. It has the EMG pickups at the neck and bridge. And I’m selling it with the coffin case. Like I said this is the real version and not that cheap one I keep seeing everywhere on the internet. But I’m selling it for a very good price. Send me an E-mail if you are interested!
: If you’re still selling the Mick Thomson Warlock how much is it?
Is anyone selling an NJ Series stealth? Give me a price and pics.
Thanks
